CAT 346-5215 is a Caterpillar heavy-duty needle roller bearing assembly (with cage), adapted for the final drive and travel motor shafts of excavators such as the 320D2/318E, used for large radial load support and shaft positioning. The following is structured technical information.
Core Parameters (Professional Version)
Item Details
Basic Attributes Model 346-5215, Needle Roller Bearing Assembly (including cage), 1–2 pieces per unit, suitable for final drive/travel motor shaft systems, shaft and housing are inner and outer rings, suitable for heavy load (≤20 kN), medium and low speed (≤2000 rpm) conditions
Key Dimensions Suitable shaft diameter 45 mm, suitable housing inner diameter 62 mm, cage outer diameter 58 mm, length 60 mm, needle roller diameter 4 mm, quantity 28, total assembly clearance 0.02–0.04 mm
Material and Process The cage is SPCC cold-rolled steel, the needle rollers are SUJ2 bearing steel, surface carburized and quenched HRC60–64, cage pocket accuracy H6, needle roller cylindricity ≤0.002 mm
Performance Parameters Radial rated dynamic load ≈12 kN, radial rated static load ≈25 kN, limiting speed ≤3000 rpm Operating speed: rpm; operating temperature: -40℃ to +120℃; axial load: ≤1.5 kN. Compatible with Cat 320D2/318E/318EL/320EL/323D/325F excavators, suitable for final drive and travel motor shaft systems, replacing older components of the same specifications.
Installation and Maintenance Points:
Clean the shaft and housing before installation, ensuring no burrs or rust. Shaft surface hardness ≥HRC58, surface roughness Ra≤0.8 μm, and housing bore roundness ≤0.01 mm.
Use cold-press assembly. Use specialized tooling to evenly press the cage in, ensuring a tight fit between the needle rollers and the shaft/housing to prevent seizing due to uneven load.
After assembly, radial runout ≤0.03 mm. It is recommended to fill with Cat 106-9900 grease, filling to 1/3–1/2 of the bearing cavity volume.
Check the cage for deformation and needle roller wear every 1500 hours. Replace it promptly if any abnormalities are found to prevent shaft wear.
