CAT 498-3113 is a Caterpillar engine injector mounting hole alignment sleeve insert, used in heavy-duty engines such as the C13B/C15/C18. It ensures the coaxiality of the injector and cylinder head mounting holes, preventing injector wear and fuel leakage. It is compatible with excavators 336/349, loaders 980M, and other equipment. The following is professional structured information.
Core Technical Parameters (Professional Version)
Project Details
Basic Attributes
Model 498-3113, steel positioning insert, single weight 0.12 kg, 6 pieces per unit (6-cylinder engine), used for transition installation between injector and cylinder head, coaxiality positioning accuracy ≤0.05 mm, equipped with M12×1.75 fixing bolts
Key Dimensions
Inner diameter φ38.0 mm (tolerance H7: 0–+0.025 mm), outer diameter φ42.0 mm (tolerance r6: +0.023–+0.041 mm, interference fit), total length 28.0 mm (tolerance ±0.1 mm), flange diameter φ48.0 mm, flange thickness 3.0 mm, positioning step height 5.0 mm, surface roughness Ra≤1.6 μm
Material and Process
Material is 42CrMo alloy structural steel, quenched and tempered (HB) 260–290 mm), surface oxidized and blackened (salt spray resistance ≥240 h), inner and outer diameters precision ground, interference fit surfaces coated with anti-seize agent (Cat 105-7900), no loosening after installation.
Performance Parameters: Operating temperature -40℃ to +200℃, radial positioning stiffness ≥500 N/μm, resistant to fuel (diesel/biodiesel) and engine oil corrosion, clearance 0.03–0.05 mm (injector and insert), rated axial load 8 kN.
Compatible Models: Engines C13B/C15/C18, equipment including excavators 336GC/349GC, loaders 980M/982M, mining trucks 777G, compatible with cylinder head injector mounting holes (M14×1.5 threaded holes).
Installation and Maintenance Points: Clean the cylinder head mounting holes and insert surfaces before installation, check for burrs/rust, apply Cat 105-7900 to the outer diameter. 105-7900 Anti-seize compound: Press into the cylinder head using a special tool (pressing force 8–12 kN), ensuring a tight fit between the flange and cylinder head (gap ≤ 0.02 mm).
Coaxiality control: After installation, use a dial indicator to check the coaxiality of the insert’s inner hole with the cylinder head reference hole. If the deviation is > 0.05 mm, re-press or replace the insert to prevent injector misalignment.
Maintenance requirements: Check for insert looseness every 1000 hours. If injector wobbling/fuel leakage occurs, first check the insert’s interference fit. Replace the insert and re-press if necessary.
Troubleshooting: If the injector sealing surface leaks, check the insert flange flatness (≤ 0.03 mm). If the flatness exceeds the tolerance, replace the insert and the injector gasket (Cat 236-0921).
