CAT 263-4911 is a thrust bearing rod designed by Caterpillar specifically for models such as the 320D/336D excavators, 966K loaders, and 140M graders. Its core function is to provide axial positioning and thrust bearing for the engine crankshaft thrust end, gearbox output shaft, or hydraulic pump drive shaft. Its role is to limit axial movement of components, bear axial loads, maintain the coaxiality of rotating parts, and prevent bearing wear, gear misalignment, or seal failure caused by axial displacement. It is compatible with high-load rotating parts of Cat C6.4/C7.1/C9 engines and Cat 345B/C/D hydraulic systems, ensuring stable power transmission and component lifespan. The following is structured technical and application information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 263-4911, Thrust Bearing Rod, compatible with 320D/336D excavator engine crankshaft, 966K loading gearbox output shaft, 140M grader hydraulic pump drive shaft, material is 42CrMo alloy steel (quenched and tempered HB 280-320, surface induction hardened HRC 58-62), operating temperature -40℃ to +150℃, single weight approximately 2.8 kg, suitable for oil lubrication (SAE 15W-40 diesel engine oil), rated axial load ≥250 kN, fatigue life ≥12000 hours, used for axial positioning and thrust bearing, limiting axial movement, and preventing failure due to displacement of rotating parts.
Key Dimensions
Rod diameter 45.00 mm (1.772 in, tolerance h6, 0/-0.016 mm), thrust disc diameter 75.00 mm mm (2.953 in, tolerance h7, 0/-0.030 mm), total length 220.00 mm (8.661 in, tolerance ±0.20 mm), thrust surface thickness 12.00 mm (0.472 in, tolerance ±0.10 mm), threads at both ends M30×3.5 (6g tolerance, -0.032/-0.180 mm), thread length 30.00 mm, thrust surface roughness Ra≤0.4 μm, clearance with thrust bearing 0.03-0.05 mm, interference fit with bushing 0.015-0.025 mm, suitable for standard shaft diameter 45 mm. Material and process: 42CrMo alloy steel → forging → rough turning → quenching and tempering → surface induction hardening (hardened layer depth 2.5-3.5 mm). (mm) → Fine grinding → Threading → Magnetic particle inspection → Surface rust prevention treatment. It possesses high hardness, high wear resistance, and fatigue resistance, suitable for high-load, high-speed operation of engines/transmissions/hydraulic pumps, and can withstand alternating axial loads.
Compatible models: Cat 320D/336D excavators (C6.4/C7.1 engine), 966K/972M loaders (Cat 345D hydraulic system), 140M/160M graders (C9 engine), 420F backhoe loader (C6.6 engine). Used for engine crankshaft thrust end, transmission output shaft, and hydraulic pump drive shaft, it restricts axial movement, withstands axial loads, maintains the coaxiality of rotating parts, and prevents bearing wear and gear meshing defects.
Assembly fit: Suitable for 45 mm diameter shafts (tolerance h6, 0/-0.016 mm), with an interference fit between the thrust disc and thrust bearing of 0.015-0.025 mm. mm, thrust surface contact area with bearing ≥90%, thread preload torque 320-350 N・m (10.9 grade nut), rod and bushing coaxiality ≤0.03 mm, axial clearance controlled at 0.03-0.05 mm after installation. Installation and Maintenance Points: Before installation, clean the thrust bearing rod, bushing, and thrust bearing. Check for scratches, rust, and cracks on the surfaces (confirmed by magnetic particle testing). Measure the rod diameter and bushing inner diameter, and the thrust disc diameter and bearing inner diameter to ensure the fit meets requirements. Bushing surface roughness Ra≤1.6 μm, thrust surface flat and free from deformation.
Install using either a heat-fitting method (heating the bushing to 120-150℃) or a cold-pressing method (using specialized pressing tools), ensuring a tight fit between the thrust disc and the thrust bearing, and coaxiality between the rod and the bushing. Do not strike directly with a hammer to prevent bending of the rod or damage to the thrust surface. After installation, check the axial clearance and adjust it to 0.03-0.05 mm using shims.
Maintenance Recommendations: Every 2500 hours, check the wear of the thrust surface and the tightness of the threads on the thrust bearing rod. If the wear on the thrust surface is >0.10 mm or the threads are loose, replace it immediately. Regularly change the engine oil to keep it clean and prevent oil contamination from accelerating thrust surface wear, which can affect axial positioning accuracy and load-bearing capacity.
