CAT 235-9767 is a commonly used axle retaining ring assembly for Caterpillar construction machinery. It is used in axial positioning bearings, bushings, and other transmission components, and is suitable for the shaft systems of mini excavators and loaders. It can be used with 237-4360 sleeves, 8W-7114 bushings, etc. It has high strength, high elasticity, and wear resistance, ensuring the stable operation of shaft components. The following is structured technical and application information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 235-9767, Shaft Elastic Retaining Ring Assembly (including retaining ring body and mounting positioning pin), material is 65Mn spring steel (quenched hardness HRC48-52, surface galvanized passivation for corrosion protection), single weight approximately 0.06 kg, working temperature -40℃ to +120℃, suitable for axially fixed bearings, bushings, and other components to prevent axial movement (Cat® Parts)
Key Dimensions
Inner diameter 50 mm (fits shaft diameter 50 mm, tolerance 0/-0.10 mm), free outer diameter 55 mm, thickness 2 mm (tolerance 0/-0.05 mm), retaining ring width 3 mm (tolerance 0/-0.05 mm), groove diameter 52 mm (fits shaft groove diameter), groove width 2.2 mm (fits shaft groove width), opening clearance 1.5 mm, radial elastic deformation ≥3 mm (Cat®) Parts
Compatible Models and Accessories: Compatible with Cat 307E2 excavators (hydraulic pump drive shaft), 908M loaders (gearbox input shaft), and 353E skid steer loaders (steering pump shaft). Matching components include 237-4360 sleeve assembly, 8W-7114 bushing, 171-4746 bearing outer ring, and 536-2653 bearing.
Rated Load: Axial rated load ≥8 kN, limiting speed ≤8000 rpm, impact load ≥15 kN, fatigue life ≥5000 cycles (axial load cycles).
Structural and Performance Advantages: Made of 65Mn spring steel, quenched and tempered, achieving a balance of elasticity and toughness. It retains its elasticity even after multiple disassemblies and reassemblies. The galvanized passivated surface effectively resists moisture and slight corrosion.
The retaining ring body has a C-shaped open structure with mounting pliers holes for easy installation and removal with dedicated retaining ring pliers. The locating pin assists in quickly aligning the shaft groove during installation, improving assembly efficiency.
Compared to ordinary retaining rings, this component has a larger elastic deformation range, a wider range of shaft diameter tolerances, and effectively prevents the retaining ring from loosening under vibration conditions, ensuring the axial positioning reliability of the component.
Installation and Maintenance Points: Before installation, clean the retaining ring, shaft groove, and related components. Check that the retaining ring is free of cracks and deformation, and the shaft groove is free of burrs and damage. Measure the shaft groove dimensions (diameter 52 mm, width 2.2 mm) to ensure they meet the requirements.
Use special snap ring pliers to clamp the retaining ring opening, compress it, and insert it into the shaft groove, ensuring the retaining ring is fully embedded in the groove. Align the locating pin with the locating hole in the shaft groove. After installation, check that the retaining ring fits tightly against the end face of the component, with no axial movement.
Maintenance and Replacement: Check the elasticity and surface corrosion of the retaining ring every 2000 hours. If the retaining ring shows plastic deformation, cracks, or severe corrosion, replace it immediately. It is recommended to replace it simultaneously with bearings, bushings, and other components to ensure the assembly accuracy of the shaft system.
