CAT 500-2915 is a Caterpillar steel-backed bronze composite sleeve bearing, commonly used in the connecting rods, pins, or guide mechanisms of excavators and loaders. It bears radial loads and is suitable for low-speed, oscillating conditions. It features wear resistance, shock resistance, and self-lubricating properties, making it suitable for the dusty and vibrating operating environments of construction machinery. The following is structured technical and application information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 500-2915, steel-backed bronze composite bushing, material is steel back + bronze alloy (CuSn10Pb10), bronze layer thickness 2.5 mm, single weight approximately 0.28 kg, operating temperature -30℃ to +150℃, load type is pure radial load, friction coefficient ≤0.08 (dry friction) / ≤0.005 (grease lubrication), lubrication method is grease lubrication (recommended Cat 2V-9822 grease), design life ≥10000 hours (normal operating conditions)
Key Dimensions
Inner diameter 40 mm (tolerance 0/-0.02 mm, mating shaft h8 tolerance), outer diameter 48 mm (tolerance +0.015/0 mm, mating seat hole H8 tolerance), length 30 mm (tolerance 0/-0.15 mm), chamfered ends 1×45°, inner hole surface roughness Ra≤0.8 μm, outer circle cylindricity≤0.015 mm, bronze layer surface hardness HB 90-110, steel back hardness HRC 30-35
Compatible Models and Parts: Compatible with Cat 307E2/308E2 excavators (boom pin), 906M/907M loaders (connecting rod bushing), with matching 235-9768 retaining rings, 5P-8354 sealing rings, and 474-9675 O-rings
Rated Load: Radial rated dynamic load Cr=55 kN, radial rated static load Cor=180 kN, allowable linear velocity ≤1.5 m/s (grease lubrication), impact load ≥40 kN, ultimate pressure ≥200 kN MPa
Structural and Performance Advantages
The steel-backed bronze composite structure combines the high strength of the steel backing with the self-lubricating properties of the bronze layer, making it suitable for oil-free or low-oil operating conditions, reducing friction and wear, and improving the adaptability of Cat® Parts.
The bronze layer contains a lead-tin alloy, providing excellent anti-galling and wear resistance, and can withstand impact loads, making it suitable for the frequent oscillation and vibration environments of construction machinery pins.
The chamfered ends facilitate installation, preventing damage to seals and mating surfaces during assembly, and simplifying maintenance procedures.
Installation and Maintenance Points
Before installation, clean the inner and outer surfaces of the bushing, shaft, and seat hole, checking for cracks, rust, and deformation. Measure the dimensions of the shaft (40 mm, h8 tolerance) and seat hole (48 mm, H8 tolerance), ensuring an interference fit of 0.015-0.03 mm.
Cold-press installation is adopted. Apply pressure evenly to the bushing end face using a special press, and do not strike the bronze layer. After installation, check the rotational flexibility; there should be no jamming or abnormal noise, axial movement ≤0.1 mm, and bushing-shaft fit ≥90%.
Maintenance and Replacement: Check wear and lubrication condition every 1200 hours. If the inner diameter wear >0.25 mm or the bronze layer peels off, replace immediately. It is recommended to replace simultaneously with the pin and seals to ensure the mechanism’s accuracy and sealing effect.
