CAT 465-5961 is a steel positioning sleeve used by Caterpillar for articulated parts of heavy-duty machinery. It is primarily designed for use with boom pins, connecting rods, or slewing mechanisms of excavators and loaders, serving as a radial positioning element, load transfer element, and protector of mating parts. It is suitable for vibrating and dusty working conditions of construction machinery and features high strength, impact resistance, and wear resistance. The following is structured technical and application information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 465-5961, solid steel positioning sleeve, material is 4140 alloy steel, quenched and tempered (hardness HRC 28-32), single weight approximately 1.25 kg, working temperature -30℃ to +120℃, load type is pure radial load, surface treatment is blackening + rust-preventive oil, lubrication method is grease lubrication (recommended Cat 2V-9822 grease), design life ≥12000 hours (normal working conditions)
Key Dimensions
Inner diameter 50 mm (tolerance 0/-0.025 mm, mating shaft h8 tolerance), outer diameter 60 mm (tolerance +0.02/0 mm, mating seat hole H8 tolerance), length 45 mm (tolerance 0/-0.18 mm), chamfer at both ends 1.5×45°, inner hole surface roughness Ra≤0.8 μm, outer circle cylindricity ≤0.02 mm, straightness ≤0.015 mm, end face perpendicularity ≤0.02 mm
Compatible Models and Parts: Compatible with Cat 320GC/323GC excavators (boom pin sleeve), 950GC/962GC loaders (boom connecting rod sleeve), with matching 1U-0210 bearing, 5P-8353 seal ring, 235-9768 retaining ring
Rated Load: Radial rated dynamic load Cr=85 kN, radial rated static load Cor=220 kN, allowable linear velocity ≤1.2 m/s (grease lubrication), impact load ≥60 kN, ultimate pressure ≥380 MPa
Structural and Performance Advantages: The 4140 alloy steel structure is heat-treated, balancing high strength and toughness, suitable for heavy-load and frequent oscillating conditions, reducing the risk of deformation and fracture.
Solid, one-piece molding design with no assembly gaps ensures precise positioning. The coaxiality of the inner hole and outer circle is ≤0.02 mm, ensuring smooth transmission and reducing wear on mating parts.
Blackening and rust prevention treatment combined with chamfered ends enhances corrosion resistance and prevents scratches on seals and mating surfaces during installation, simplifying the assembly process.
Installation and Maintenance Points: Before installation, clean the sleeve, pin, and mounting base, checking for cracks, rust, and deformation. Measure the inner diameter (50 mm, h8 tolerance) and pin, and the outer diameter and mounting hole dimensions, ensuring an interference fit of 0.018-0.035 mm.
Cold pressing installation is used. Apply pressure evenly to the sleeve end face using a special press; do not strike the outer circle surface. After installation, check for flexible rotation/oscillation, ensuring no jamming or abnormal noise, axial movement ≤0.1 mm, and a sleeve-pin fit ≥90%.
Maintenance and Replacement: Check wear and lubrication condition every 1500 hours. If the inner diameter wear is >0.3 mm or scratches/dents appear on the surface, replace immediately. It is recommended to replace it at the same time as the pin and seal to ensure the accuracy of the mechanism and the sealing effect.
