The CAT 361-1704 GD pin (General Duty Pin) is a universal locating pin designed by Caterpillar specifically for the articulated parts of excavators, loaders, and other equipment. It is primarily used for the articulation positioning and load transfer of components such as the boom, stick, and connecting rod. It is suitable for medium to light loads and frequent oscillation conditions, and features high strength, wear resistance, and impact resistance. It is a key basic component of the articulated system of construction machinery, Cat® Parts. The following is structured technical and application information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 361-1704 GD, material is 40Cr alloy steel, tempered (hardness HRC30-35), single weight approximately 3.6 kg, operating temperature -30℃ to +120℃, load type is radial load + light impact load, surface treatment is black oxide + rust-preventive oil, lubrication method is grease lubrication (recommended Cat 2V-9822 grease), design life ≥12000 hours (medium to light working conditions)
Key Dimensions
Spindle diameter 45 mm (tolerance 0/-0.022 mm, h7 tolerance), total length 180 mm (tolerance 0/-0.2 mm), locating shoulder diameter 60 mm, shoulder thickness 12 mm, mounting hole diameter 18 mm (tolerance +0.015/0 mm), chamfered ends 2×45°, spindle cylindricity ≤0.015 mm, end face runout ≤0.02 mm, surface roughness Ra≤0.8 μm
Compatible Models and Parts: Compatible with Cat 320D/320GC excavators (boom connecting rod pin), 950GC loaders (boom articulation pin), 140G graders (blade connecting rod pin), and compatible with 465-5961 sleeves, 5P-8353 seals, 1J-6472 retaining rings, and 3B-8489 grease fittings.
Rated Load: Radial rated dynamic load Cr=160 kN, radial rated static load Cor=320 kN, allowable swing angle ±12°, allowable linear velocity ≤0.6 m/s (grease lubrication), impact load ≥80 kN, ultimate pressure ≥360 MPa
Structural and Performance Advantages: 40Cr The alloy steel structure undergoes quenching and tempering, combining high strength and toughness, making it suitable for light to medium heavy loads and frequent oscillation conditions, reducing the risk of deformation and breakage.
The integral shoulder positioning design ensures precise axial positioning after installation, eliminating the risk of movement. The coaxiality between the spindle and the shoulder is ≤0.02 mm, ensuring smooth transmission of the hinged components.
The anodized black surface treatment enhances rust resistance, and the chamfered ends facilitate alignment of the sleeve and bushing during installation, reducing assembly scratches and improving assembly efficiency.
Installation and Maintenance Points: Before installation, clean the pin, sleeve, and mounting base, checking for cracks, rust, and deformation. Measure the inner diameter of the spindle (45 mm, h7 tolerance) and sleeve, ensuring an interference fit of 0.015-0.03 mm.
Cold-press installation is adopted. Apply pressure evenly to the shoulder end face using a special press; striking the spindle surface is strictly prohibited. After installation, check the flexibility of the spindle; there should be no jamming or abnormal noise, axial movement ≤0.1 mm, and the pin-sleeve fit ≥90%.
Maintenance and Replacement: Check the wear and lubrication condition every 1500 hours. If the spindle wear is >0.3 mm or scratches/peeling appear on the surface, replace it immediately. It is recommended to replace it simultaneously with the sleeve and sealing ring to ensure hinge accuracy and sealing effect.
