CAT 8E-8162 is a Caterpillar steel-based + nitrile rubber (NBR) composite sealing sleeve, commonly used for shaft/cavity sealing in hydraulic systems or transmission components. Its core function is to prevent oil leakage and contaminant intrusion. It is suitable for medium pressure (≤25 MPa) and medium speed (≤1500 r/min) conditions, ensuring the stable operation of equipment hydraulic and transmission systems. The following is structured technical and application information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 8E-8162, Type: Combined sealing sleeve (including metal sleeve and rubber sealing lip), Material: Low carbon steel (sleeve, hardness HB 180-200) + NBR rubber (sealing lip, hardness 60-65 Shore A), Single weight approximately 0.85 kg, Working temperature: -30℃ to +100℃, Compatible with mineral oil and hydraulic oil, Design life ≥8000 hours (normal operating conditions), Sealing form: Lip seal + dust ring combination, Compatible with medium-pressure hydraulic systems Cat® Parts
Key Dimensions
Inner diameter: 50.8 mm (tolerance +0.01/-0.005 mm), Outer diameter: 76.2 mm (tolerance +0.02/-0.01 mm), Total length: 63.5 mm (tolerance 0/-0.1 mm), Sealing lip thickness: 3.2 mm, Sleeve wall thickness: 4.5 mm, installation chamfer r1.5 mm, radial interference 0.03-0.05 mm (with shaft), axial positioning groove width 5 mm. Compatible Models and Parts: Compatible with Cat 320D2 and 323D2 excavators, 950H loaders, and other equipment equipped with C4.4/C6.6 engines. Used for hydraulic pump shaft ends, rotary motor chambers, etc. Matching components include 5P-0960 extreme pressure lithium-based grease and 103-8329 elastic retaining rings. Can be used in combination with 8E-8163 lower sealing sleeves, 441-6210 cylinder blocks, etc. Performance Parameters: Sealing pressure ≤25 MPa, maximum allowable linear velocity ≤5 m/s, coefficient of friction ≤0.005 (oil lubrication), impact pressure ≤35 MPa, rubber sealing lip aging resistance (no cracking after 100℃×1000 hours), sleeve tensile strength ≥450. MPa, sealing leakage ≤0.01 mL/min (at 10 MPa pressure)
Structural and Performance Advantages: The steel-based sleeve provides high-strength support, preventing deformation of the sealing lip under pressure, suitable for high-pressure conditions. The NBR rubber sealing lip possesses excellent oil resistance and elasticity, ensuring a tight seal and reducing the risk of leakage.
The modular design integrates sealing and dustproof functions, eliminating the need for additional dust rings, simplifying assembly, adapting to compact equipment layouts, and reducing maintenance costs.
Compatible with various hydraulic oils and operating temperatures, maintaining stable sealing performance even under frequent start-stop and vibration conditions in construction machinery, improving system reliability.
Installation and Maintenance Points: Before installation, clean the sleeve, shaft, and mounting base, checking for burrs, rust, or damage to the rubber lip. Use a special tool for press-fitting. Do not strike the sleeve end face to avoid tearing the rubber lip. After press-fitting, check the fit between the sealing lip and the shaft to ensure there is no misalignment.
After installation, add appropriate hydraulic oil to ensure sufficient lubrication. Install the elastic retaining ring and fixing sleeve to prevent axial movement. Before operation, perform a no-load test run to check for leaks and abnormal noises, ensuring reliable sealing.
Maintenance: Check the sealing area for leaks every 800 hours. If leaks, wear, or aging of the sealing lip are found, replace it immediately. If the journal wear exceeds 0.04 mm during replacement, the shaft must also be replaced. Do not mix sealing sleeves of different models.
