CAT 461-7578 is a metal composite gasket from Caterpillar used in hydraulic systems or power transmission components. It is commonly used on static sealing surfaces such as gearbox end covers and hydraulic pump flanges to prevent oil leakage and impurity intrusion. It is suitable for medium pressure (≤25 MPa) and medium temperature conditions, ensuring the reliability of equipment sealing. The following is structured technical and application information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 461-7578, Type: Metal Composite Gasket (Core plate: Q235 steel + NBR sealing layer), Single weight: approx. 0.08 kg, Operating temperature: -20℃ to +100℃, Design life: ≥6000 hours (normal operating conditions), Suitable for medium pressure (≤25 MPa) static sealing surfaces, Oil resistance meets SAE J200 standard, Anti-aging performance meets ISO 1817 requirements, Sealing surface roughness: Ra 0.8-1.6 μm
Key Dimensions
Outer diameter: 90 mm (tolerance 0/-0.15 mm), Inner diameter: 60 mm (tolerance 0/+0.12 mm), Thickness: 2.0 mm (tolerance ±0.05 mm), Bolt hole distribution circle diameter: 75 mm, Number of bolt holes: 4, Hole diameter: 10.5 mm (tolerance +0.10 mm) 5 mm sealing surface width, 1.0 mm chamfer on the edge.
Compatible Models and Accessories: Compatible with the gearbox end cover and hydraulic pump flange of Cat 320D2 and 323D2 excavators, 966M loaders, etc. Matching bolts are 10-9340 (M10×1.5×30 mm). Can be used in combination with 461-7579 sealing rings and 5P-0960 extreme pressure lithium-based grease.
Performance Parameters: Sealing pressure ≤25 MPa, compression rebound rate ≥45%, rubber hardness 70 Shore A, burst pressure ≥50 MPa, oil volume change rate ≤8% (120℃×72 h).
Structural and Performance Advantages: The composite structure of metal core plate + rubber sealing layer combines the rigidity of metal and the elasticity of rubber. It adapts to minor unevenness in the sealing surface, ensuring high sealing reliability. It can withstand certain vibrations and pressure fluctuations, making it suitable for harsh working conditions in construction machinery.
Precise dimensions and bolt hole design facilitate easy installation and positioning, eliminating the need for additional sealant (except in special operating conditions), reducing installation difficulty, improving assembly efficiency, and minimizing the risk of seal failure.
The nitrile rubber sealing layer exhibits excellent oil resistance, making it suitable for hydraulic oil, gear oil, and other media. It also possesses strong resistance to aging and compression set, extending gasket life and reducing maintenance frequency.
Installation and Maintenance Points: Before installation, clean the sealing surface to remove oil, burrs, and residue from old gaskets. Check the sealing surface for deformation and scratches, ensuring the gasket is placed flat. Tighten the bolts evenly in 2-3 stages diagonally, adhering to the torque specified in the machine manual (typically 25-30 N·m). Avoid overtightening, which could damage the gasket.
After installation, check the sealing surface for leaks. During the initial operation (first 20 hours), conduct regular inspections. If leaks are found, retighten or replace the gasket. Never reuse old gaskets.
Maintenance: Check the gasket sealing condition every 1000 hours. If the rubber layer falls off, the metal core plate is deformed, or the sealing surface leaks, replace it immediately. When replacing, it is recommended to check the roughness and flatness of the sealing surface at the same time. If it does not meet the requirements, it must be repaired before installation.
