CAT 361-1712 YM is a high-strength alloy steel pivot pin for Caterpillar engineering machinery. It features a hard chrome plating and is designed for use in the boom/stick articulation of loaders and excavators. It enables precise rotation and load transfer between structural components, withstands heavy loads, impacts, and frequent oscillations, and ensures operational stability and a long service life for Cat® Parts. The following is structured technical and application information:

Core Technical Parameters

Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 361-1712 YM, Type: Straight Pivot Pin (No Pull-out Hole), Material: Boron Alloy Structural Steel, Overall Tempering + Surface Quenching (HRC58-62), Single Weight: Approx. 5.2 kg, Applicable Temperature: -40℃ to +180℃, Surface Hard Chrome Plating (Thickness 0.05-0.08 mm, HV≥900), Recommended Lubrication: Cat MTO 10W-30, Anti-loosening Method: Elastic Pin Fixing

Key Dimensions
Pin Diameter: 80 mm (Tolerance f7, Fitting Bushing Inner Diameter Tolerance H8), Total Length: 380 mm (Tolerance ±0.20 mm), Working Length: 260 mm, Head Diameter: 100 mm (Stepped Positioning), Positioning Pin Hole Diameter: 12 mm (2, symmetrically distributed), Rod Straightness ≤0.05 mm / Total Length, Surface Roughness Ra≤0.8 μm, installation interference 0.010-0.020 mm
Compatible Models and Parts: Compatible with Cat 980M loaders and 336D2 excavators, used for boom and stick hinge connections, rocker arm and connecting rod connections, with matching 361-1713 bushings (bronze alloy + graphite inlay), 215-2331 retainers, and 106-0898 bolts (M16×45, installation torque 120-140 N・m)

Performance Parameters: Tensile strength ≥1100 MPa, Yield strength ≥850 MPa, Fatigue life ≥15000 hours (10^6 cycles), Rated static load ≥1800 kN, Hard chrome plating wear resistance coefficient ≤0.12, Allowable swing angle ±15°, Corrosion resistance rating IP65 Structural and Performance Advantages
Heavy-Duty Wear Resistance: The combination of boron alloy material and hard chrome plating provides both high strength and excellent wear resistance, making it suitable for heavy-duty applications in mining and infrastructure, reducing frictional wear between pins and bushings (Cat® Parts).

Precise Positioning: The stepped head and positioning pin hole design ensure no axial movement after installation. Combined with matching bushings, clearance is controllable, reducing operational vibration and noise.

Impact and Corrosion Resistance: Overall tempering treatment enhances impact resistance, and the hard chrome plating effectively resists corrosion in humid and dusty environments, extending maintenance intervals.

Easy Assembly: The straight, pull-out-free design allows for quick fixation via elastic pins, meeting the needs of rapid on-site disassembly and assembly, improving maintenance efficiency.

Installation and Maintenance Points:

Before installation, clean the pin, bushing, and hinge hole, checking for straightness and surface scratches/rust. After press-fitting the bushing, hinge the hole to an inner diameter tolerance of H8. The pin should be cold-fitted (frozen at -20℃ for 1 hour) or press-fitted; do not strike. After aligning the positioning pin holes, insert the elastic pin to ensure reliable fixation.

After installation, check the radial clearance to be 0.03-0.05 mm, axial movement ≤0.10 mm, and for any jamming during oscillation. Perform a 1-hour trial run; the hinge temperature should be ≤80℃, with no abnormal noise or loosening.

Maintenance: Check the clearance and plating wear every 1000 hours. Replace the bushing if the clearance is >0.15 mm or the plating has peeled off. Add grease every 500 hours, filling the bushing cavity to 1/3 of its volume, avoiding excessive grease to prevent overheating.
