CAT 144-0274 is a Caterpillar genuine double-row tapered roller bearing assembly, suitable for Cat 3306 and 3406 series engine fan drive shafts, hydraulic pump drive shafts, and gearbox output shafts, used to withstand bidirectional radial and axial combined loads. The following is pure raw data and does not include replacement parts information.
Core Technical Parameters (Raw Data)
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 144-0274, Type: Double row tapered roller bearing assembly (including inner and outer rings, rollers, cage, preload shims), Material: Inner/outer ring: Chromium-molybdenum alloy steel (SAE 52100, hardened layer depth 1.2-1.5 mm), Rolling elements: High carbon chromium bearing steel (GCr15), Cage: Stamped steel plate (SPCC, surface phosphated), Preload shims: Spring steel (65Mn), Single weight: 1.85 kg, Applicable shaft diameter: φ65 mm, Rated radial load: ≥125 kN, Rated axial load: ≥98 kN, Limiting speed: 2800 rpm (grease lubrication), Operating temperature: -40℃ to +150℃, Lubrication method: Grease lubrication (recommended polyurea grease, dropping point ≥230℃), Assembly preload: 12-18 kN, Protection rating: IP54 (dustproof and splashproof)
Key Dimensions Inner diameter φ65 mm (tolerance +0.005/+0.001 mm), outer diameter φ120 mm (tolerance 0/-0.018 mm), width 45 mm (tolerance ±0.12 mm), roller diameter φ12 mm (tolerance ±0.004 mm), roller length 28 mm (tolerance ±0.08 mm), cage window size 12.2×28.2 mm (tolerance ±0.05 mm), clearance C3 group (0.012-0.020 mm), roundness ≤0.006 mm, cylindricity ≤0.010 mm
Performance parameters: Hardness: inner ring/outer ring HRC 60-64, rolling elements HRC 62-66, coefficient of friction ≤0.002 (grease lubrication), rated life ≥40000 hours (rated load cycles), impact resistance ≥400 g (11 ms) (Pulse), fatigue strength ≥1200 MPa, corrosion resistance: no rust after ≥48 hours of salt spray test, cage tensile strength ≥350 MPa
Structural and Performance Advantages
Double-row tapered roller structure: can simultaneously withstand radial and bidirectional axial loads, suitable for complex stress conditions such as fan drive shafts and hydraulic pump drive shafts.
Chromium-molybdenum alloy steel material: meets the required hardening layer depth, excellent wear resistance and fatigue resistance, suitable for heavy-duty conditions of engines and transmissions.
Stamped steel plate cage: high strength and light weight, suitable for high-speed conditions, preventing roller tilting and jamming.
Preload shim design: allows precise adjustment of bearing preload, reducing vibration and noise during operation, and improving transmission accuracy.
Installation and Maintenance Points (Original Data)
Installation: Clean the journal and bearing housing bore (free from oil, rust, and scratches). Assemble using the heat-fit method (heating temperature 80-100℃, hold for 15 minutes, do not exceed 120℃). Press-fit the inner ring end face. After assembly, check radial clearance to be 0.012-0.020 mm. Adjust the preload to 12-18 kN using shims. The coaxiality error between the shaft and bearing should be ≤0.02 mm. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 65-75 N・m (tighten symmetrically and evenly).
Maintenance: Replenish grease every 1500 hours (0.08-0.12 kg each time), check bearing temperature every 2500 hours (normal ≤70℃), check vibration value every 3500 hours (replace if vibration speed >2.5 mm/s), avoid prolonged overload (load exceeding 1.2 times the rated value easily leads to roller fatigue damage), and prevent foreign objects from entering the bearing (clean the bearing perimeter regularly).
Troubleshooting: Overheating of the bearing is often due to insufficient lubrication or excessive preload; replenish grease or adjust the preload shims. Abnormal noise is often due to roller damage or cage deformation; the entire bearing needs to be replaced. Excessive axial movement is due to insufficient preload; increase the thickness of the preload shims.
