CAT 475-1898 is a Caterpillar original equipment manufacturer (OEM) accumulator fuel line connecting plug ball, compatible with the fuel injection systems of heavy-duty diesel engines such as the Cat C15 and C18. It is used for sealing connections between fuel lines and for quick installation and removal. The following is pure original data and does not include information on replacement parts.
Core Technical Parameters (Raw Data)
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 475-1898, Type: Solid spherical plug (single-ball sealing structure), Material: Stainless steel (304, solution treated, hardness HB187-207), Surface treatment: Electrolytic polishing (Ra≤0.2 μm), Single weight: 0.012 kg, Applicable pipe inner diameter: φ8 mm, Rated working pressure: 25 MPa, Burst pressure: ≥75 MPa, Working temperature: -40℃ to +120℃, Sealing form: Spherical line contact seal, Protection level: IP67
Key Dimensions
Ball diameter: φ8.74 mm (tolerance 0/-0.010 mm), Ball head length: 12 mm (tolerance ±0.10 mm), Rod diameter: φ6 mm (tolerance 0/-0.008 mm), Rod length: 10 mm (tolerance ±0.10 mm), Thread specification: M6×1 (tolerance…) 6g), spherical roundness ≤ 0.003 mm, cylindricity ≤ 0.005 mm
Performance Parameters: Tensile strength ≥ 520 MPa, yield strength ≥ 205 MPa, elongation at break ≥ 40%, fuel compatibility (compatible with Cat DEO-ULS diesel engine oil, ASTM D975 diesel), corrosion resistance (no rust after ≥ 240 hours of salt spray test), sealing leakage ≤ 0.01 cm³/min (at 25 MPa pressure)
Structural and Performance Advantages:
304 Stainless Steel Material: Resistant to fuel corrosion, suitable for high-pressure fuel system conditions; solution treatment improves material toughness and fatigue resistance.
Spherical Line Contact Seal: Plug-in design enables quick installation and removal; spherical seal ensures no leakage under high pressure, suitable for fuel line maintenance scenarios requiring frequent disassembly.
High-Precision Dimensional Control: Spherical diameter tolerance 0/-0.010 mm, spherical roundness ≤ 0.003 mm, ensuring sealing surface fit accuracy and reducing leakage risk.
Highly adaptable: Compatible with Cat C15 and C18 engine accumulators and fuel line connections, compatible with high-pressure common rail fuel injection systems, providing stable fuel pressure control and preventing cavitation and pressure fluctuations.
Installation and Maintenance Points (Original Data)
Installation: Clean the ball surface and pipe interface (free from oil, impurities, and scratches). Apply a small amount of Cat-specific fuel system sealing grease (model 1U-8859). Manually screw in the threads (torque 5-7 N·m). The gap between the ball surface and the pipe sealing seat should be ≤0.02 mm. After installation, perform a pressure test (25 MPa, 5 minutes, no leakage).
Maintenance: Check the sealing surface for wear every 1000 hours (replace when wear >0.03 mm). Check the threads for damage every 1500 hours (replace when stripped or deformed). Avoid overpressure use (pressure exceeding 25 MPa can easily cause ball deformation). Replace the fuel filter regularly (to prevent impurities from abrading the sealing surface). Troubleshooting: Leaks are often caused by wear on the sealing surface or the adhesion of impurities. Replace the plug and clean the pipeline. Loose threads are caused by insufficient installation torque. Reassemble to the standard torque. Deformed spheres are caused by overpressure or impact. Replace the entire plug and check the fuel system pressure.
