CAT 197-0075 is a Caterpillar original valve seat insert, adapted for sealing and cooling valves in medium and heavy-duty engine cylinder heads. It seals the combustion chamber and conducts valve heat. The following is pure original data and does not include replacement parts information.
Core Technical Parameters (Raw Data)
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 197-0075, Type: Exhaust Valve Seat Ring, Material: High Nickel-Chromium Alloy Cast Iron (containing Cr 18-22%, Ni 5-8%), Single Weight: 0.42 kg, Suitable for Engine Exhaust Valves, Operating Temperature: -50℃ to +850℃, Rated Sealing Pressure ≥10 MPa, Thermal Conductivity ≥45 W/(m・K), Used for Cylinder Head Valve Seat Holes, Sealing the Combustion Chamber and Withstanding Valve Impact Loads
Key Dimensions (Metric / Imperial)
Inner Diameter: 42.0 mm (1.654 in, Tolerance 0/+0.03 mm), Outer Diameter: 52.0 mm (2.047 in, Tolerance 0/-0.02 mm), Height: 12.0 mm (0.472 in, Tolerance ±0.05 mm), Chamfer 1×45° (inner diameter), 2×45° (outer diameter), interference fit with valve seat 0.03-0.05 mm, valve contact width 3.0 mm (tolerance ±0.1 mm)
Performance Parameters: Hardness HRC 38-45, tensile strength ≥650 MPa, yield strength ≥450 MPa, wear layer thickness ≥2 mm, coefficient of thermal expansion 11.5×10⁻⁶/℃, compatible valve stem diameter φ12 mm, resistant to combustion gas corrosion, compatible with Cat DEO-ULS 15W-40 engine oil
Structure and Compatibility Characteristics:
Alloy Material Advantages: High-nickel-chromium alloy cast iron possesses high hardness, wear resistance, and thermal conductivity, capable of withstanding high-temperature impacts and frequent opening and closing friction of the exhaust valve. It is not easily deformed or worn over long-term use, ensuring the sealing performance of the combustion chamber.
Interference Fit Seal: Installed in the cylinder head seat bore via cold pressing, ensuring a tight fit to prevent fuel gas leakage. Simultaneously, it rapidly conducts valve heat to the cylinder head, preventing valve overheating and damage.
Operating Condition Compatibility: Suitable for high-load, high-temperature exhaust conditions in medium and heavy-duty engines. Resistant to fuel gas corrosion and thermal fatigue. Compatible with Cat C9 and C13 engines used in excavators, loaders, generator sets, and other equipment.
Installation and Maintenance Points (Original Data)
Installation: Clean the seat bore (free of oil and burrs). Freeze the valve seat to -40℃ (for shrinkage installation). Use a special press to smoothly press in the valve, ensuring the end face is flush with the cylinder head plane. The valve contact area should have a ≥95% fit, with no uneven wear or gaps.
Maintenance: Check valve sealing every 2000 hours. If the seal is poor, ream the valve seat or replace it. For long-term storage, apply anti-rust oil and avoid contact with acids and alkalis to prevent oxidation of the alloy layer.
