The CAT 8I-4480 is a Caterpillar genuine single-row cylindrical roller bearing (with retaining grooves on the outer ring), suitable for heavy-duty rotating parts such as medium- and heavy-duty engine crankshafts and transmission input shafts. The following are raw specifications and do not include replacement parts information for Cat®…

Core Technical Parameters (Raw Data)

Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model: 8I-4480; Type: Single-row cylindrical roller bearing (outer ring with retaining groove, open type); Material: High carbon chromium bearing steel (GCr15SiMn); Weight: 0.85 kg; Operating Temperature: -40℃ to +150℃; Fitting Shaft Diameter: 45 mm; Rated Radial Dynamic Load: 62.5 kN; Rated Radial Static Load: 68.2 kN; Limiting Speed: 8500 rpm; Lubrication Method: Grease/Oil Lubrication Compatible

Key Dimensions (Metric/Imperial):
Inner Diameter: 45 mm (1.772 in); Outer Diameter: 85 mm (3.346 in); Width: 19 mm (0.748 in); Number of Rollers: 12; Roller Diameter: 8 mm; Roller Length: 14 mm; Inner and Outer Ring Fit Tolerance: P6 grade; Radial Clearance: C3 group; Outer Ring Retaining Groove Width: 3 mm; Retaining Ring Diameter: 90 mm

Performance Parameters: Inner and outer ring hardness HRC 61-65, roller hardness HRC 62-66, surface roughness Ra≤0.04 μm, cage material stamped brass, no sealing structure, compatible system working pressure ≤10 MPa, capable of withstanding pure radial heavy loads.

Structure and Compatibility Characteristics:

Heavy-load compatibility: Cylindrical roller line contact structure, strong radial load-bearing capacity, suitable for heavy-load parts such as engine crankshaft main bearings and gearbox planetary carrier supports, distributing loads and reducing contact stress.

Outer ring positioning: The outer ring has a retaining groove and retaining ring, achieving precise axial positioning and preventing axial movement of the bearing within the bearing housing, suitable for transmission systems requiring strict axial limiting, such as gearboxes.

High rigidity design: Large contact area between rollers and raceways, high structural rigidity, suitable for high-speed rotation and impact load conditions, suppressing shaft vibration and ensuring transmission accuracy.

Compatible Engines and Application Scenarios:

Engines: Medium and heavy-duty engines such as C7.1 and C9.3.

Transmissions: Cat 9M and 9T series transmissions.

Construction Machinery: Transmission systems for 320GC and 336GC excavators, and 966M loaders.

Application Scenarios: Crankshaft main bearings, transmission input shaft supports, transfer case output shaft bearings; suitable for heavy-duty, high-speed transmission components requiring axial positioning, ensuring power transmission efficiency and stability.

Installation and Maintenance Points (Original Data)

Installation: Clean the shaft diameter and bearing housing bore, ensuring no scratches or rust on the surface. Shaft diameter tolerance h6, bearing housing bore tolerance J7, and retaining ring groove tolerance ±0.02 mm.

Cold installation method: Use a special sleeve to evenly press the outer ring. Do not strike the rollers and cage. Rear end face runout ≤0.04 mm. Ensure the retaining ring is properly installed without looseness.

Add NLGI 2 lithium-based grease (extreme pressure type can be used for heavy-duty applications). Run under no-load for 5-10 minutes to ensure no jamming or abnormal noise.

Maintenance: Check operating status every 3000 hours; replace if temperature rise exceeds 40℃ or abnormal noise occurs.

Check lubricating grease every 1000 hours. For oil-lubricated systems, regularly monitor oil quality and pressure to prevent impurities from entering.
