The CAT 6B-4844 is a genuine Caterpillar Final Drive Guard, designed for use on the final drive of tracked bulldozers. It protects the drive components from impacts by debris such as gravel and mud. The following are precise original specifications and application information; replacement parts are not included.
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 6B-4844 (Final Drive Protector, Carbon Steel Stamping)
Material: Q235 carbon steel, surface treated with shot blasting + epoxy primer + wear-resistant topcoat, impact-resistant, corrosion-resistant, suitable for dusty construction environments
Key Dimensions: Length 185 mm, Width 120 mm, Height 65 mm, Plate Thickness 4 mm, Mounting Hole Spacing 110 mm (2 M8 threaded holes)
Unit Weight: Approx. 0.78 kg (1.7 lbs)
Tolerance Standards: Dimensional tolerance ±1.5 mm, Mounting Hole Tolerance ±0.5 mm, Surface Roughness Ra ≤ 1.6 μm
Protective Features: Edge flange + reinforcing rib design to improve structural rigidity and prevent deformation; Topcoat salt spray resistance ≥ 240 h, suitable for humid and dusty environments
Structure and Core Characteristics: Stamped carbon steel structure: Q235 The carbon steel casing is die-stamped and reinforced with ribs to enhance impact resistance and prevent damage to the final drive housing from foreign object impacts.
Multi-layer anti-corrosion coating: Shot blasting removes oxide scale, and a double protection of epoxy primer and wear-resistant topcoat extends outdoor service life and reduces the risk of rust.
Precise installation positioning: Two M8 threaded holes match the final drive housing, ensuring a secure fit after installation and adapting to the vibration conditions of tracked bulldozers during travel and operation.
Lightweight design: Weighing only 0.78 kg, it does not add extra load to the final drive while maintaining protective performance.
Compatible models and application scenarios:
Compatible equipment: CAT D6 series tracked bulldozers (D6A, D6C, D6D, D6E, 6A, 6S models, etc.), and tracked equipment with 3306 engines.
Core Purpose: Installed on the outside of the final drive, it blocks flying debris such as gravel, dirt, and branches during operation, preventing damage to the final drive housing, oil seals, oil pipes, and other components. Suitable for harsh working conditions such as mining and infrastructure construction, extending the maintenance cycle of the final drive.
Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation: Clean the mounting surface of the final drive housing, removing oil and rust. Check the cover for deformation, cracks, and coating peeling.
Secure with two M8×20 hex bolts (8.8 grade), controlling the torque at 25–30 N·m, ensuring a tight fit.
After installation, check the gap between the cover and the final drive, ensuring ≥ 5 mm to prevent friction and abnormal noise during operation.
Maintenance: Regularly (every 200 hours) check the bolt tightness. If loose, tighten immediately to prevent the cover from falling off.
Clean the dirt and gravel adhering to the cover surface, checking the coating for integrity. If the coating is damaged, promptly apply epoxy primer + abrasion-resistant topcoat to prevent rust.
Avoid forcefully striking the protective cover to prevent deformation that could affect its protective effect. If deformation occurs, it should be corrected or replaced promptly.
