CAT 137-6877 is a Caterpillar genuine shaft retaining ring (circlip), a dedicated fastener for axial positioning of bearings. It is suitable for bearing assemblies in rotating components such as gearboxes, drive axles, and wheel hubs, and is used to limit axial movement of the inner/outer ring of the bearing, preventing bearing displacement, accelerated wear, or failure under impact conditions. Core Functions and Installation Points
Axial Positioning and Anti-migration: Embedded in a dedicated groove on the shaft, it restricts the axial movement of the bearing inner ring, preventing collisions and wear between the bearing and adjacent components, ensuring rotational accuracy and transmission efficiency.
Installation Specifications
Clean the shaft groove and retaining ring, removing burrs and oil stains, ensuring no impurities affect the fit.
Use special retaining ring pliers to pry open the retaining ring and smoothly insert it into the shaft groove, ensuring it is fully engaged at the bottom of the groove without tilting or coming out.
After installation, check that the clearance between the retaining ring and the bearing end face is ≤0.1mm to ensure no axial movement of the bearing, while avoiding interference that could deform the retaining ring or damage the shaft groove.
Maintenance Recommendations:
Inspect every 800-1000 working hours. Check for deformation, breakage, corrosion, or loosening of the retaining ring. Replace it immediately if any issues are found.
When replacing the bearing, the retaining ring must be replaced simultaneously to prevent positioning failure caused by the elasticity degradation of the old retaining ring.
Store in a sealed, moisture-proof environment to prevent corrosion from affecting elasticity and assembly accuracy (Cat®…).
