CAT 164-1237 is a Caterpillar genuine heavy-duty axle wear-resistant bushing, suitable for critical components such as hinges, connecting rods, or rocker arms in loaders, excavators, graders, and other equipment. It isolates the shaft from metal-to-bore contact, absorbs shock, maintains assembly accuracy, and extends the life of the shaft system and supports (Cat®…).

Core Technical Parameters

Item Details
Part Model: CAT 164-1237 Wear-resistant Bushing for Shafts (Standard Type / Oil Groove Optional)

Material: Alloy steel / High carbon steel, surface hardened + nitrided, some with PTFE composite layer, wear-resistant and impact-resistant, suitable for heavy-duty working conditions

Key Dimensions: Inner diameter approx. 50-60mm, outer diameter approx. 65-75mm, length approx. 80-100mm (subject to actual product/manual), precise tolerances, suitable for corresponding shaft diameters and mounting holes

Compatible Models: Loaders 938K/950GC, Excavators 323D/330D, Graders 140M/160M, etc., used for boom, stick, connecting rod hinge points or rocker arm bushings

Performance Characteristics: High hardness (HRC) (58-62), low coefficient of friction, impact and fatigue resistant, oil groove model for oil storage and lubrication, suitable for high-frequency oscillation and heavy-load conditions.

Structure and Core Functions

Friction Isolation and Protection: Isolates the direct metal-to-metal contact between the shaft and the support hole, reducing friction and wear, and preventing scratches and deformation of the shaft and hole due to dry friction or impact.

Positioning and Clearance Compensation: Precise inner and outer diameter tolerances ensure shaft system installation accuracy, compensate for assembly clearances, reduce oscillation and abnormal noise, and maintain stable operation of the mechanism.

Impact Absorption and Load Dispersion: Suitable for heavy-load and impact conditions, evenly transmits radial loads, absorbs vibration energy, and reduces stress concentration on the shaft and support.

Lubrication Assistance (with oil groove type): The oil groove can store grease, continuously supplying oil to the friction surfaces, further reducing wear and extending maintenance intervals.

Installation and Maintenance Points

Installation Specifications: Clean the shaft, mounting hole, and bushing surfaces to remove oil, rust, and impurities. Check that the shaft and hole are free of scratches and have acceptable ovality.

Use cold-pressing/hot-fitting processes and specialized tooling for installation. Do not directly strike the bushing end face to avoid deformation or cracking; the coaxiality error after installation should be ≤0.05mm.

For models with oil grooves, align them with the support oil passages. After installation, add the specified grease to ensure unobstructed lubrication.

Maintenance Recommendations: Inspect the bushing every 500-800 working hours for wear, cracks, looseness, or excessive clearance (radial clearance >0.5mm; replacement recommended).

Regularly add lithium-based/complex calcium sulfonate-based grease according to model requirements. Clean the grease fitting and surrounding area to prevent impurities from entering the friction surfaces.

Replace the bushing immediately if abnormal wear or unusual noises are detected to avoid secondary damage to the shaft and support bore.
