CAT 491-2038 YM sleeve assemblies are Caterpillar original heavy-duty precision components, adapted for the drive or travel systems of excavators, loaders, and other equipment. They are used for shaft positioning, bearing support, and load transfer, commonly found in final drives, wheel hubs, or gearbox outputs, ensuring stable component operation and assembly accuracy.
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 491-2038 YM Sleeve Assembly (including sleeve body, seals, locating ring, etc., supplied as a complete set)
Material: Sleeve body is alloy steel (surface hardened + nitrided, HRC 58-62), seals are nitrile rubber/fluororubber, locating ring is high-strength carbon steel, suitable for heavy loads and harsh working conditions
Key Dimensions: Inner diameter approx. 80-100mm, outer diameter approx. 110-130mm, length approx. 120-150mm (subject to actual product/manual), precise tolerances to ensure compatibility with shafts, bearings, and housings
Compatible Models: Excavator 320GC/336D, Loader 950K/966M, Bulldozer D6N, etc., used for final drive spindle sleeves, wheel hub bearing housing sleeves, or gearbox output shaft sleeve assemblies
Performance Characteristics High hardness and wear resistance, low coefficient of friction, with seals to prevent oil and impurities from entering, and a complete set design to ensure assembly consistency; suitable for high-frequency rotation and impact load conditions.
Structure and Core Functions
Bearing Positioning and Support: Precisely positions the inner/outer ring of the bearing, providing stable support, ensuring shaft rotation accuracy, and preventing wear and jamming caused by bearing displacement.
Sealing Protection: Integrated seals prevent lubricant leakage and the intrusion of external dust and moisture, protecting internal components and extending lubrication cycles and component life.
Load Transfer and Dispersion: Evenly transfers radial and axial loads, absorbs vibration, reduces stress concentration in the shaft and housing, and is suitable for heavy-load and impact conditions.
Easy Assembly: Supplied as a complete set, including sleeves, seals, and positioning rings, simplifying the installation process, ensuring compatibility of components, and shortening maintenance time.
Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation Specifications: Clean the shaft, housing mounting holes, and all components to remove oil, rust, and impurities. Check the shaft and holes for scratches and ensure they are within acceptable ovality limits.
Use hot-fit/cold-pressing processes and specialized tooling for installation. Do not strike the sleeve body or seals. After installation, check the coaxiality (≤0.05mm) and seal fit to ensure no leakage.
Tighten the matching bolts (if applicable) according to the torque requirements in the equipment manual. After installation, apply the specified grease (e.g., lithium-based grease).
Maintenance Recommendations: Every 800-1200 working hours, check for wear, cracks, aging or leakage of seals, and abnormal noise from bearings.
If sleeve wear exceeds limits (radial clearance >0.5mm), seal damage, or locating ring deformation is found, replace the entire set immediately to avoid secondary damage to critical components such as shafts and bearings.
