CAT 362-3502 is a Caterpillar original heavy-duty steel-backed composite bushing, suitable for the boom, stick, rocker arm, and other articulated parts of excavators, loaders, and other equipment. It mates with trunnions/pins, providing wear reduction, positioning, and cushioning. It is a core wear component of the articulated system, suitable for medium to heavy-duty Cat® applications…

Core Technical Parameters

Item Details
Part Model: CAT 362-3502 Heavy-Duty Steel Back Composite Bushing (Single Component, Oil-less/Oil-groove Optional)

Material: Steel back + bronze/PTFE composite layer, self-lubricating or requires grease application, HRC 30-40 (steel back), composite layer thickness 0.5-1.5mm, wear-resistant and impact-resistant

Key Dimensions: Inner diameter approx. 60-80mm, outer diameter approx. 80-100mm, length approx. 50-80mm, weight approx. 1.5-2.5kg (subject to actual product/manual), interference fit installation, precise tolerances

Compatible Models: Excavators 320D2/336D2, Loaders 966M/980M, Bulldozer D6N, etc., used for boom-stick, stick-bucket, rocker arm-linkage joints, etc.

Performance Characteristics High load capacity suitable for heavy-duty and impact conditions, low coefficient of friction, self-lubricating/grease lubrication options available, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant, extending the service life of trunnions/pins.

Core Functions:

Friction Reduction and Protection: Isolates the trunnion from the hinge hole, reducing relative rotational friction, minimizing component wear, and preventing jamming and abnormal noise caused by direct metal-to-metal contact.

Load Buffering and Distribution: The composite layer absorbs impact loads, evenly distributes stress, protects the trunnion and hinge hole, and prevents localized stress concentration that could lead to cracks.

Positioning and Guiding: Provides precise radial positioning for the trunnion, ensuring the stability of the hinge mechanism’s rotation center and improving the motion accuracy of components such as the boom and stick.

Sealing and Dust Prevention: Some bushings with sealing structures prevent dust, sand, and other impurities from entering the hinge area, protecting the internal lubrication environment and extending component life.

Installation and Maintenance Points:

Installation Specifications: Clean the mounting holes and bushing surfaces, removing oil, rust, and impurities. Check the dimensions and roundness of the mounting holes to ensure they meet interference fit requirements.

Install using cold pressing or heated mounting holes (≤100℃). Do not directly strike the bushing to avoid deformation of the steel backing and detachment of the composite layer.

After installation, check the clearance between the bushing and trunnion to ensure smooth rotation. Add the specified grease (e.g., extreme pressure lithium-based grease) according to the equipment manual.

Maintenance Recommendations: Check every 500-800 working hours: for wear, loosening, and cracking of the bushing; for abnormal noise and leakage at the hinge points. Replace if the clearance is >0.5mm.

Replenish grease regularly. In heavy-load/dusty conditions, shorten the lubrication cycle to prevent lubrication failure from accelerating wear of the bushing and trunnion.
