The CAT 2H-2330 is a Caterpillar original equipment engine camshaft bushing bearing, compatible with engines such as the 3204/3208. It supports the camshaft, reduces friction, and ensures stable operation of the valve train, making it a critical and easily worn component of the engine’s valve train system.

Core Technical Parameters

Item Details
Part Model: CAT 2H-2330 Camshaft Bushing Bearing (Sleeve-type Sliding Bearing)

Material: Steel backing + Babbitt alloy (or copper-lead alloy). The steel backing ensures strength, while the Babbitt alloy provides wear resistance and friction reduction, suitable for engine oil lubrication conditions.

Key Dimensions: Inner diameter approx. 45-50mm, outer diameter approx. 55-60mm, width approx. 18-22mm, weight approx. 0.25-0.30 lbs (0.11-0.14kg). Fits camshaft journals, interference fit with cylinder block bearing bores.

Compatible Engines: Suitable for Caterpillar 3204, 3208, and other engines, used in the camshaft support parts of loaders, excavators, generator sets, and other equipment.

Performance Characteristics: Sliding friction design, suitable for low to medium speed and light to medium load conditions. The Babbitt alloy layer absorbs small impurities and provides impact resistance. Requires continuous oil lubrication. Operating temperature: -30℃ to… 150℃
Core Functions and Structure
Camshaft Support: Provides radial positioning and support for the camshaft, ensuring coaxiality during operation and preventing eccentricity-induced valve timing deviation.

Friction Reduction and Wear Resistance: The Babbitt alloy layer reduces the coefficient of friction between the camshaft journal and bearing, reducing wear and extending the life of the camshaft and bearings.

Shock Buffering: Absorbs vibration and impact loads during engine operation, stabilizing the valve train operation and reducing noise and vibration.

Lubrication Transmission: Supplyes oil through oil passages, forming an oil film to carry away frictional heat and prevent bearing overheating that could cause the alloy layer to peel off.

Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation Specifications: Clean the cylinder block bearing bores, camshaft journals, and bearings. Check the roundness and coaxiality of the bearing bores. The journal surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.8μm, free of scratches and rust.

Use cold-press installation. Use a special tool to press the bearing into the bearing bore. Do not strike to prevent deformation of the steel backing and alloy layer peeling. Ensure oil holes are aligned to guarantee unobstructed lubrication.

Control the installation interference fit (0.02-0.04mm). After installation, check the inner diameter to ensure a clearance of 0.03-0.06mm with the camshaft journal, allowing for smooth and unobstructed operation.

Maintenance Recommendations: Every 800-1200 working hours, check: whether the oil pressure is normal, and for any abnormal noises. After disassembly, check the bearing alloy layer for peeling or wear. Replace the bearing if the clearance exceeds 0.1mm.

Regularly change the engine oil and oil filter to keep the oil clean and prevent impurities from entering the bearing, causing alloy layer wear and premature failure.
