CAT 3J-2452 is a Caterpillar genuine bearing cap, commonly used in the hinge joints, drive axle, or pushrod bearing areas of loaders, bulldozers, and other equipment. It serves to seal, prevent dust, secure the bearing, and protect the shaft end. It is compatible with CAT 950G/966G loaders, D6R bulldozers, and other models, ensuring bearing lubrication and operational accuracy, and extending the life of transmission components.

Core Technical Parameters

Item Details
Part Model: CAT 3J-2452 Bearing End Cover, a transmission system component. There is no official direct replacement model; aftermarket reference: H3J2452.
Material: High-strength gray cast iron HT250, with some parts fitted with nitrile rubber (NBR) seals. Cast iron hardness: HB 190-240, tensile strength ≥250MPa, temperature resistance: -30℃ to 150℃, seals resistant to mineral oil and hydraulic oil, static sealing pressure ≤0.3MPa.
Key Dimensions: Outer diameter approx. 200mm, thickness approx. 80mm, center shaft hole diameter adapted to the corresponding bearing shaft diameter, bolt hole distribution circle diameter approx. 160mm, with 6 M16×1.5 bolt holes, seal inner diameter adapted to the shaft diameter, cross-sectional diameter 3.5mm.
Compatible Models: CAT 950G/966G loaders, D6R/D7R bulldozers, 420F This product is used in excavator loaders for front frame articulated bearing end covers, drive axle wheel-side bearing covers, pushrod bearing fixing end covers, and gearbox output shaft bearing end covers.

Performance Characteristics: The cast iron body is rigid and impact-resistant. NBR sealing rings prevent oil, dust, and leakage. Bolted fastening ensures precise bearing positioning, adapting to vibration conditions and preventing bearing outer ring displacement and grease leakage. It protects the shaft end and bearing from foreign object damage.

Core Functions and Structure:

Bearing Positioning and Fixing: Bolts are used to axially position the bearing outer ring, preventing bearing displacement during equipment operation or vibration. This ensures the coaxiality and operational accuracy of transmission components and avoids frictional heat between the bearing and the shaft/housing.

Sealing and Protection: An internal sealing ring fits tightly against the shaft/housing, preventing grease leakage and the entry of dust, moisture, sand, and other foreign objects into the bearing cavity. This protects the bearing raceway and rolling elements, reduces wear and corrosion, and extends bearing life.

Shaft End Protection and Load Transfer: Protects the shaft end threads and end face from impact damage; simultaneously transfers part of the radial load, assists the housing in bearing bearing reaction force, and enhances the overall rigidity of the transmission system. Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation Specifications
Clean the end cover sealing surface, bearing outer ring, and housing mounting surface to remove oil, metal shavings, and burrs. Check the end cover for cracks and deformation, and the sealing ring for damage and aging.

Apply a small amount of grease to the sealing ring. Align the end cover with the mounting surface and tighten it symmetrically and evenly with M16 bolts. Control the tightening torque to 80-100 N·m to avoid uneven loading that could lead to seal failure or end cover deformation.

After installation, check for smooth rotation without jamming or abnormal noise. Let it stand for 30 minutes to observe for leaks, ensuring proper bearing lubrication and proper sealing.

Maintenance Recommendations
Every 2000 working hours, check: the end cover for looseness and cracks, the sealing ring for aging and damage, and the bearing cavity for sufficient grease. If the end cover is deformed or the sealing ring is faulty, replace it immediately and replenish the grease.

When replacing, prioritize the original 3J-2452 end cap. Non-original parts may have problems such as dimensional deviations and insufficient material strength, which can easily lead to poor sealing, bearing positioning failure, and equipment failure.
