Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 503-1622 (5031622) Valve Guide Sleeve, suitable for valve guide outer diameter 18mm, used to enhance the assembly accuracy and sealing performance of the guide and cylinder head
Material: Low carbon alloy steel, surface nitrided, hardness HRC 55-60, inner hole precision honing Ra≤0.6μm, wear-resistant and fatigue-resistant, suitable for valve chamber conditions from -40℃ to 250℃
Key Dimensions: Outer diameter 18mm, inner diameter 12.5mm, length 45mm, wall thickness 2.75mm, chamfered ends 1×45°, suitable for valve guide outer diameter 18mm, valve stem diameter 12mm, single weight approximately 0.12kg
Compatible Engines: CAT C15/C18/3406E engine, suitable for D8R bulldozer, 980G Suitable for medium and heavy-duty equipment such as loaders and 777 mining trucks, with valve trains featuring a valve lift ≤15mm.
Performance Parameters: Radial runout ≤0.03mm, clearance 0.04-0.08mm, fatigue strength ≥900MPa, resistant to oil and fuel gas corrosion, exhibiting no deformation or jamming after long-term use.
Core Functions and Structural Features:
Enhanced Guiding and Positioning: Interference fit with valve guides limits radial valve offset, ensuring precise alignment between the valve and valve seat, reducing wear, and extending valve and seat life.
Sealing and Leak Prevention: Fills the microscopic gaps between the guide and cylinder head mounting holes, inhibiting fuel gas leakage and oil intrusion into the combustion chamber, reducing oil consumption, and improving combustion efficiency.
Wear and High Temperature Resistance: Made of nitrided alloy steel, suitable for the high-temperature and high-pressure environment of the valve chamber, exhibiting no wear or cracking after long-term use, ensuring valve movement stability, and suitable for high-speed engine conditions (≤2200rpm). Installation Compatibility: The standard outer diameter and length are compatible with the cylinder head guide bore, requiring no additional machining after installation. This facilitates quick maintenance, reducing assembly costs and time.
Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation Specifications:
Clean the cylinder head guide bore and sleeve outer surface to remove oil, carbon deposits, and burrs. Ensure there are no scratches or rust. Check the roundness of the guide bore to be ≤0.02mm.
Use a special press tool to press the sleeve into the cylinder head guide bore with a pressure of 3-5kN, or cool the sleeve with liquid nitrogen (-196℃) before quick assembly. Ensure an interference fit of 0.02-0.04mm to avoid damaging the cylinder head and sleeve.
After installation, check the sliding flexibility of the valve stem and sleeve to ensure there is no jamming, smooth valve reciprocating motion, and valve clearance conforming to the engine model standard (intake 0.25-0.30mm, exhaust 0.50-0.55mm).
Maintenance Recommendations:
Inspect the valve sleeve wear every 8000 operating hours or during a major overhaul. Replace it when the inner bore wear is ≥0.15mm to prevent abnormal valve movement that could lead to reduced power and increased fuel consumption.
Simultaneously check the clearance between the valve guide and valve stem. If the clearance exceeds 0.12mm, it is recommended to replace it along with the 503-1622 valve sleeve to ensure the performance of the valve train.
