The CAT 6E-3775 is a Caterpillar engine valve spring retainer, used in the valve train of medium and heavy-duty diesel engines. It axially positions and locks the valve spring seat and valve spring, preventing the spring seat from falling off and suppressing abnormal spring displacement. It is compatible with engines such as 3412/C18/C27, ensuring precise valve opening and closing and stable power output. The following is the core information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Part Model CAT 6E-3775 (6E3775) Valve Spring Seat Retainer, compatible with engine valve assemblies with a valve stem diameter of 14mm, used to lock the valve spring seat and valve spring.
Material 40Cr alloy steel, tempered HRC28-32, surface galvanized and passivated for corrosion resistance; Locking claw: hardened HRC42-48, wear-resistant and impact-resistant; Inner hole: precision machined Ra≤0.8μm, compatible with valve stem sliding.
Key Dimensions Inner diameter 14.5mm, outer diameter 38mm, height 12mm, locking claw thickness 3mm, compatible with valve spring seat inner diameter 38mm, valve stem diameter 14mm, single weight approximately 0.19kg
Compatible Engines CAT 3412, 3412D, 3412E, 3456, 3508B, C18, C27 Engines, including heavy equipment such as 836G/836H road rollers and 793 mining trucks, are compatible with the intake and exhaust valve spring seat locking of 12-cylinder/8-cylinder engines.
Performance Parameters: Operating temperature -40℃ to 300℃, radial runout ≤0.05mm, locking force ≥8kN, suitable for valve train conditions with valve lift ≤18mm.
Core Functions and Structural Features:
Axial Locking Positioning: The locking claws embed into the valve spring seat slots, achieving axial fixation between the spring seat and the valve spring, preventing the spring seat from falling off at high engine speeds and ensuring the safe operation of the valve assembly.
Anti-Loosening and Anti-Displacement: The multi-claw symmetrical structure forms a rigid connection with the spring seat after installation, suppressing lateral spring displacement and vibration, eliminating valve train noise, and suitable for high engine speed (≤2000rpm) conditions.
Wear-resistant and durable: Made of alloy steel with a galvanized surface, suitable for high-temperature, high-pressure, and oily environments in the valve chamber. Long-term use ensures no rust or deformation, guaranteeing locking reliability and extending the life of the valve train.
Ease of installation: Standard size fits valve spring seats and valve stems. Installation is simple: press the locking claw into the slot using a special tool. No additional machining is required, facilitating quick maintenance.
Installation and maintenance points:
Installation specifications: Clean the valve stem, spring seat, and retainer inner hole to remove oil, carbon deposits, and burrs, ensuring the surface is free of scratches and rust.
Use a special press to press the retainer into the spring seat slot, ensuring the locking claw is fully embedded. After fixing, check the smoothness of the retainer and valve stem sliding to ensure there is no jamming and no tilting after valve spring compression.
After installation, test valve clearance: intake valve 0.30-0.35mm, exhaust valve 0.55-0.60mm, conforming to the model standard.
Maintenance Recommendations:
Inspect the retainer for wear every 12,000 operating hours or during a major overhaul. Replace the retainer if the locking pawl wear is ≥0.3mm or deformed to prevent loose spring seats that could cause abnormal valve movement.
Simultaneously check the valve spring’s elasticity and fatigue condition. Replace the valve spring along with the 6E-3775 retainer if the free length is shortened by ≥2mm or the elasticity decreases by ≥10% to ensure proper valve train performance.
