CAT 4D-0527 is a Caterpillar original flexible retainer ring type retainer used for axial positioning of parts at shaft ends/inside holes. It is suitable for high-speed, light-load components such as engines and hydraulic pumps. The following is purely accurate information (without additional description):
Core Parameters and Information
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 4D-0527 (4D0527) Flexible Retainer Ring Type
Part Type: Shaft Flexible Retainer Ring (Type E Circlip), used for axial anti-detachment of bearings, gears, sprockets, etc., suitable for light-load, high-speed operation, withstanding axial static load ≤5kN
Material: 65Mn spring steel, galvanized and passivated surface, corrosion resistance grade C2, operating temperature -40℃ to 150℃
Key Dimensions: Free diameter 12.70mm (0.500in), Circlip thickness 1.27mm (0.050in), Groove diameter 12.00mm (0.472in), Opening width 2.54mm, Inner diameter 11.43mm, outer diameter 14.29mm
Structural Features: Single-opening E-type structure, no ears or holes, installed by elastic deformation, compatible with standard shaft retaining ring grooves, axial clearance ≤0.05mm after installation
Compatible Structures: Compatible shaft diameter 12.70mm, retaining ring groove width 1.30mm, groove depth 0.65mm, installation tolerance g6
Applicable Operating Conditions: Engine camshaft, hydraulic pump drive shaft end positioning, speed ≤5000rpm, axial load ≤3kN
Compatible Engines and Assemblies:
Engine: CAT C7.1, C9.3 (camshaft bearing fixing, timing gear fixing)
Hydraulic Pump: CAT 352-0618, 352-0619 (drive shaft end retaining ring assembly)
Compatible Assemblies: C7.1 camshaft bearing fixing assembly, 352-0618 Hydraulic Pump Drive Shaft End Retaining Ring Assembly
Installation and Fitting Points
**Before installation, clean the shaft groove and retaining ring. Use snap ring pliers to expand the groove before inserting it. Do not use needle-nose pliers to pry it open, as this may cause deformation.**
**After installation, ensure it fits snugly against the bottom of the groove, with no axial looseness. The clearance between the outer diameter of the retaining ring and adjacent parts should be ≥0.10mm to ensure no interference during rotation.**
**After assembly, check for axial runout ≤0.03mm to avoid friction with rotating parts.**
**Disassembly:** Use snap ring pliers to expand and remove the retaining ring. When replacing, check for groove width wear. If the wear is >0.05mm, the shaft needs to be repaired or replaced.
