CAT 064-0974 is a Caterpillar genuine shaft oil retainer ring (pure original factory information, no additional description). It is used on the bearing side of hydraulic pumps/gearboxes to prevent lubricant leakage and isolate foreign matter. Installation and maintenance points:
Clean the journal and bearing outer ring end face, removing burrs and oil stains. Check the elasticity and lip integrity of the oil retainer ring, ensuring it is not deformed or damaged.

After the bearing and retainer are installed in place, install the oil retainer ring, ensuring the positioning flange is tightly against the bearing outer ring, the split surfaces are aligned, and there is no looseness in axial positioning.

Inspection: The oil retainer ring rotates with the shaft without jamming; the gap between the labyrinth groove and the stationary ring is 0.08-0.12 mm; there is no abnormal noise during rotation; and there is no oil leakage.

Maintenance: Check lip wear and labyrinth gap every 2000 hours, disassemble every 5000 hours, and replace when lip wear is > 0.3 mm or labyrinth gap is > 0.25 mm to avoid oil leakage leading to lubrication failure.
