CAT 068-6117 is a Caterpillar genuine fuel pump tappet shaft needle roller bearing (pure original factory information, no additional description). It is compatible with the high-pressure common rail fuel pump tappet assembly of C13/C15/C18 engines. It supports the high-speed rotation of the tappet shaft, reduces friction, ensures accurate power transmission with the camshaft and plunger, and prevents tappet shaft jamming and wear that could lead to abnormal fuel pump injection.
Core Parameters and Information
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 068-6117 (0686117) Tappet Shaft Needle Roller Bearing
Structure Type: Needle roller bearing with cage, outer ring with locating flange, dust lips at both ends, suitable for shaft mounting
Material: Needle rollers: High carbon chromium bearing steel (GCr15, HRC62-65); Outer ring: Bearing steel (HRC58-62); Cage: Phenolic resin; Dust lips: Nitrile rubber (NBR); Weight: 0.042 kg
Key Dimensions: Inner diameter 20 mm, outer diameter 28 mm, width 10 mm, locating flange diameter 32 mm, needle roller diameter 2 mm, number of needle rollers 12, chamfer at both ends 0.5×45°
Performance Parameters: Rated radial dynamic load 28 kN, rated static load 42 kN, maximum speed 7000 rpm, operating temperature -40℃ to 150℃, clearance 0.002-0.003 mm, fatigue life ≥10⁷ cycles
Compatibility Standard: Complies with ISO 3096 needle roller bearing standard, radial runout ≤0.003 mm
Compatible Models and Assemblies
Compatible Parts: 067-7842 plunger, 068-2742 tappet retainer, 10R-2465 camshaft, 068-5183 tappet bearing
Compatible Equipment: CAT 336D2/349D2 excavator, 980K/982M loader, D8T/D9T bulldozer (C13/C15/C18 engine), for fuel pump tappet shaft support
Matching Installation: 2 pieces per tappet shaft, symmetrically distributed at both ends of the tappet, with 068-2742… The retainer coordinates with the positioning mechanism to ensure precise contact between the tappet and the camshaft.
Installation and Maintenance Points:
Clean the tappet shaft and bearing mounting position. Check the bearing for broken needle rollers, outer ring deformation, and an intact dust lip. The journal surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.8 μm, and roundness ≤ 0.002 mm.
Use a special tool (075-2350) to press the bearing into the tappet shaft mounting position with a pressing force ≤ 3 kN, ensuring a tight and secure fit between the bearing and the tappet shaft.
After installation, check that the tappet shaft rotates smoothly without jamming, that the contact pressure with the camshaft is uniform, that the fuel pump operates without abnormal noise or leakage, and that the axial movement of the tappet shaft is ≤ 0.02 mm.
Maintenance: Check the bearing needle roller wear every 2000 hours (replace when radial wear ≥ 0.004 mm). Regularly change the engine oil and fuel filter to prevent impurities from entering and causing bearing failure.
