CAT 068-9782 is a Caterpillar genuine fuel pump tappet bushing (pure original factory information, no additional description). It is compatible with the high-pressure common rail fuel pump tappet assembly of C13/C15/C18 engines. It is used for clearance compensation between the tappet shaft and the pump body bore, wear reduction and resistance, vibration and shock suppression, ensuring the accuracy of tappet reciprocating motion and stable fuel injection timing. It works in conjunction with the 068-8527 adjusting ring and the 068-8555 retaining ring.

Installation: One tappet shaft per unit, press-fitted into the pump body bushing hole, working with the adjusting ring and retaining ring to position the tappet shaft, ensuring axial/radial positioning accuracy.
Installation and Maintenance Points: Clean the bushing and pump body hole, check for bushing deformation and plating peeling, and check the pump body hole diameter. 25⁰⁺⁰・⁰15 mm, depth 18 mm, surface roughness Ra≤0.8 μm.

Cold press installation using a special press (075-2354), pressing force 8-10 kN. After press-fitting, the bushing end face should be flush with the pump body bore, without skewing, and the inner bore should not have elliptical deformation.

After installation, check the tappet shaft rotation resistance to be 0.5-1.0 N・m, the bushing-shaft clearance to be 0.01-0.02 mm, and the fuel pump should operate without abnormal noise or leakage.

Maintenance: Check bushing wear every 2000 hours (replace when inner bore wear ≥0.03 mm). During replacement, simultaneously check pump body bore wear; if necessary, ream the bore and replace with a larger bushing.
