CAT 077-3986 is a Caterpillar genuine retainer (pure original factory information, no additional description), a shaft elastic retainer (external retaining ring), adapted for shafts/link components of CAT engineering machinery, used for axial positioning to prevent movement and ensure stable operation of components (Cat®…).
Core Parameters and Information
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 077-3986 (0773986) Retaining Ring
Structure Type: Shaft elastic retainer with opening and mounting clamp hole, external clamping axial limiting structure
Material: 65Mn spring steel, blackened surface oxide, hardness HRC47-51, tensile strength ≥1250 MPa
Key Dimensions: Inner diameter 40 mm, outer diameter 47 mm, thickness 1.5 mm, opening width 5 mm, fitting shaft groove width 1.6 mm
Performance Parameters: Operating temperature -40℃ to 180℃, elastic recovery rate ≥95%, shear strength ≥800 MPa, anti-loosening axial force ≥7 kN
Compatibility Standard: Complies with CAT retaining ring technical specifications, dimensional accuracy IT9 grade, surface roughness Ra≤1.6 μm
Compatible Models and Assemblies
Compatible Parts: Shafts, bearings, bushings, and other components requiring axial positioning
Compatible Equipment: CAT Axial positioning for shafts in gearboxes, hydraulic pumps, and traveling mechanisms, suitable for 320D2/323D2 excavators, 966M/972M loaders, D6T bulldozers, etc.
Installation: 1-2 pieces depending on the machine model and location. Install in the shaft groove to prevent axial movement of parts.
Installation and Maintenance Points:
Before installation, clean the shaft groove and retainer, checking for deformation, cracks, normal elasticity, and intact clamp holes.
Use shaft retainer pliers to pry open the retainer, insert it into the shaft groove, ensuring it is fully embedded and fits snugly against the end face of the part without gaps.
After installation, check that the axial movement of the part is ≤0.03 mm, and that it operates smoothly without jamming or abnormal noise.
Maintenance: Check the retainer’s elasticity and installation condition every 2000 hours. Replace immediately if deformation, decreased elasticity, or breakage occurs to prevent part displacement and damage.
