CAT 077-4836 is a genuine Caterpillar retainer (purely original and accurate information, no additional description). It is a flexible shaft retainer (external retaining ring) adapted for CAT engineering machinery shafts/bearing components. It is used for axial positioning to prevent movement and ensure stable component operation.
(CAT) Core Parameters and Information
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 077-4836 (0774836) Retaining Ring
Structure Type: Retaining ring for shaft, with opening and double mounting jaws, external clamping axial limiting structure
Material: 65Mn spring steel, blackened surface oxide, hardness HRC47-51, tensile strength ≥1250 MPa
Key Dimensions: Inner diameter 60 mm, outer diameter 67 mm, thickness 1.5 mm, opening width 5 mm, jaw diameter 2.5 mm, fitting shaft groove width 1.6 mm
Performance Parameters: Operating temperature -40℃ to 180℃, elastic recovery rate ≥95%, shear strength ≥800 MPa, anti-loosening axial force ≥10 kN
Compatibility Standard: Complies with CAT retaining ring technical specifications, dimensional accuracy IT9 grade, surface roughness Ra≤1.6 μm Compatible Models and Assemblies
Compatible Parts: Bearings, shafts, bushings, and other components requiring axial positioning; used for axial limiting of bearing inner/outer rings.
Compatible Equipment: CAT 336D2/349D2 excavators, 988K loaders, D8T bulldozers, etc.; used for axial positioning of shafts in bearing-related assemblies such as gearboxes, hydraulic pumps, travel mechanisms, and slewing bearings.
Installation: 1-2 pieces depending on the model and location; installed in the shaft groove to prevent axial movement of bearings and related parts.
Installation and Maintenance Points
Clean the shaft groove and retainer. Check the retainer for deformation, cracks, gaps, normal elasticity, and intact clamp holes.
Use shaft retainer pliers to pry open the retainer and insert it into the shaft groove, ensuring it is fully engaged at the bottom of the groove and fits snugly against the end face of the part without gaps.
After installation, check that the axial movement of the part is ≤0.03 mm, and that it operates smoothly without jamming or abnormal noise.
Maintenance: Check the elasticity and installation status of the retainer every 2000 hours. Replace it immediately if it is deformed, loses elasticity, or breaks to prevent parts from shifting and causing damage.
