CAT 096-1555 (0961555) is a track link retainer/track pin lock plate adapted for the 760GT tracked chassis, used in 349/352/374/395 excavators and 982/988 loaders. Its core function is to lock the track pins to prevent axial movement. It works in conjunction with the 096-1175 spacer ring, 096-1188 bearing cap, 096-0676 bushing, 096-0232 track shoe, and 096-0255 traction teeth. Suitable for heavy-duty working conditions such as hard rock mining and quarrying, it is a key safety component of the tracked walking system.

Item Details
Part Model CAT 096-1555 (0961555) Track Pin Holder / Locking Plate (For Track Links)

Structure Type High-strength alloy steel elastic locking plate with positioning teeth and anti-detachment buckles, installed in pairs at both ends of the track pin, embedded in the link positioning groove

Material 65Mn spring steel, quenched + low-temperature tempered; surface hardness HRC42-48, elastic limit ≥1200MPa, fatigue life ≥5 million cycles

Key Dimensions Length approx. 45mm, width approx. 28mm, thickness approx. 5mm; positioning tooth height 2mm, anti-detachment buckle width 8mm, thickness 3mm, adapts to track pin φ12mm positioning hole, gap with link positioning groove ≤0.1mm

Compatible Models CAT 349, 352, 374, 395 excavators; 982, 988 loaders (760GT) Tracked chassis (equipped with 096-0676 bushings, 096-1175 spacer rings, and 096-1188 bearing caps)

Functional Positioning: Locks track pins to prevent axial movement, avoids track pin detachment leading to chain link separation, and ensures the safety and stability of the walking system.

Suitable Applications:

Installation Position: At both ends of the track pin, embedded in the chain link positioning groove. The positioning teeth engage with the track pin positioning holes, and the anti-detachment buckle meshes with the chain link groove to prevent the retainer from loosening.

Working Conditions: Suitable for heavy-duty, high-impact environments such as mining stripping, quarries, and hard rock tunnels; works with Cat GLT grease, checking the retainer condition every 500 hours to prevent track pin movement due to locking plate deformation.

Matching Components: Compatible with 096-0676 bushings, 096-1175 spacer rings, 096-1188 bearing caps, track pins, chain links, and 096-0232 track shoes; During replacement, simultaneously check track pin wear, chain link deformation, and the condition of the 095 series tensioning system to prevent track failure caused by retainer malfunction.

Installation and Maintenance Points

Installation: Clean the track pin positioning holes, chain link positioning grooves, and retainer surface to remove rust and oil; align the retainer positioning teeth with the track pin positioning holes and press them into the chain link positioning grooves using a special tool, ensuring the anti-loosening clips fully engage with the chain link grooves.

After installation, check the fit between the retainer and the track pins and chain links to ensure there is no looseness; test track movement for smooth running without jamming or abnormal noise, and ensure track sag meets the standard (3%-5% of the track roller spacing).

Maintenance Cycle: Under standard operating conditions, inspect the retainer for deformation, wear, and engagement every 800 hours; for mining/rock conditions, shorten this to 400 hours, recording the retainer thickness wear and locating tooth height data.

Replacement Standard: When the retainer shows deformation, cracks, locating tooth wear >1mm, anti-detachment buckle failure, or clearance with the track pin >0.2mm, it must be replaced in pairs. Repair and reuse are strictly prohibited to prevent safety accidents.
