CAT 068-9819 is a Caterpillar genuine fuel pump tappet retainer (purely original and accurate information, no additional description). It is compatible with the high-pressure common rail fuel pump tappet assembly of C13/C15/C18 engines. It works in conjunction with the 068-9782 bushing, 068-8555 retaining ring, and 068-8527 adjusting ring to radially lock the tappet shaft and bushing, preventing tappet shaft rotation or radial displacement during pump operation and ensuring stable fuel injection timing.
Core Parameters and Information
Item Details

Compatibility Standard: Complies with CAT 4W-7023 retainer technical specification, inner diameter tolerance ±0.02 mm, groove width tolerance ±0.01 mm mm Compatible Models and Assemblies
Compatible Parts: 068-9782 Bushing, 068-8555 Elastic Retaining Ring, 068-8527 Adjusting Ring, 068-6117 Bearing
Compatible Equipment: CAT 336D2/349D2 Excavator, 980K/982M Loader, D8T/D9T Bulldozer (C13/C15/C18 Engine), used for radial positioning of the high-pressure common rail fuel pump tappet assembly
Installation: One piece per tappet shaft, installed on the outside of the tappet hole in the pump body, locked with double M6 bolts, working in conjunction with the elastic retaining ring to achieve dual radial and axial positioning of the tappet shaft.
Installation and Maintenance Points: Clean the retainer and pump body mounting surfaces, check the retainer for deformation, cracks, and oxide layer peeling, the flatness of the mounting surface ≤0.01 mm, roughness Ra≤1.6 μm.
Pre-install the retainer on the tappet shaft, ensuring it fits snugly against the bushing end face. Insert the locating pin into the pump body pin hole and symmetrically tighten the double M6 bolts to 12-15 N·m, ensuring no looseness or misalignment.
After installation, check that the radial runout of the tappet shaft is ≤0.01 mm, the gap between the retainer and the pump body is ≤0.02 mm, and the fuel pump operates without abnormal noise or leakage.
Maintenance: Check the bolt torque every 2000 hours (re-tighten if below 10 N·m). Replace the retainer if deformation or cracks are found. During replacement, simultaneously check the bushing and retaining ring for wear to prevent component positioning failure.
