CAT 077-5518 is a genuine Caterpillar retainer (pure original factory information, no additional description), used for axial positioning and anti-loosening of shafts, bushings, and other components. It is suitable for heavy-duty operating conditions in construction machinery, preventing component movement and ensuring assembly accuracy and operational stability.

(CAT 077-5518 is a genuine Caterpillar retainer.) Core Parameters and Information

Item Details
Part Model: CAT 077-5518 (0775518) Retainer

Structure Type: Circular elastic retainer with an opening for easy installation; inner ring with anti-slip teeth; outer ring with mounting groove.

Material: 65Mn spring steel, quenched and tempered, surface anodized black for corrosion resistance; hardness HRC 42-48

Key Dimensions: Inner diameter 70 mm, outer diameter 80 mm, thickness 3 mm, opening width 5 mm, anti-slip tooth height 0.3 mm

Performance Parameters: Radial elastic force ≥8 kN, applicable temperature -40℃ to 150℃, anti-loosening torque ≥12 N・m, fatigue life ≥10^5 cycles

Compatibility Standard: Complies with CAT shaft retainer specifications; dimensional tolerance GB/T 894.1 – 9 grade; surface roughness Ra≤1.6 μm

Matching Relationship Interference fit with shaft (d10), clearance fit with seat hole (H8), axial positioning accuracy ≤0.03 mm. Compatible Models and Assemblies:

Compatible Parts: Matches CAT 077-5131 bushings and 077-4855 bearings for heavy-duty shaft systems such as gearbox input shafts, hydraulic motor output shafts, and drive axle half shafts, limiting axial displacement of bushings, bearings, and other components to prevent vibration-induced loosening.

Compatible Equipment: CAT 349D2/352 excavators, 988K loaders, D8T bulldozers, etc., suitable for heavy-duty rotating shaft systems, ensuring reliable component positioning and stable operation.

Installation: One piece per shaft, installed in the annular groove of the shaft, with the opening aligned with the direction of less stress, fitting snugly against the bushing end face, axial clearance ≤0.1 mm.

Installation and Maintenance Points: Clean the shaft groove and retainer surface, checking for cracks, deformation, tooth damage, and normal opening elasticity.

Use special snap ring pliers to pry open the opening, insert it into the shaft groove, and then release it to ensure the retainer is fully embedded in the groove and flush against the bottom.

After installation, check for axial movement, good contact between the retainer and the bushing/bearing end face, and no looseness or abnormal noise.

Maintenance: Check the retainer’s elasticity and tooth wear every 1500 hours. Replace it when elasticity decreases or tooth wear exceeds 0.2 mm to prevent axial movement of the component from causing malfunctions.
