CAT 077-5602 is a Caterpillar original single-row tapered roller bearing, commonly used in transmission systems such as gearboxes, drive axles, or transfer cases. It is suitable for medium to heavy-duty excavators, loaders, off-highway trucks, and other equipment. It can simultaneously withstand radial and unidirectional axial loads, making it suitable for medium to high-speed, medium to heavy-duty operating conditions, ensuring stable operation of transmission components and reducing wear.

Core Technical Parameters

Item Details
Part Model CAT 077-5602 Single-Row Tapered Roller Bearing

Material Inner ring, outer ring, and rollers are made of low-alloy chromium steel (52100), hardened to HRC 60-64. The cage is made of stamped steel sheet/machined brass. It is suitable for mineral oil lubrication. The operating temperature is -30℃ to 120℃. The rated speed is approximately 3000rpm (grease lubrication) and 4500rpm (oil lubrication).

Key Dimensions Inner diameter approx. 76.2mm (3 inches), outer diameter approx. 152.4mm (6 inches), width approx. 44.45mm (1.75 inches), taper angle approx. 12°, number of rollers 12, roller diameter approx. 16mm, journal tolerance h6, bearing housing tolerance H7, radial clearance 0.015-0.035mm

Compatible Models Compatible For 336D/349D excavators, 980H/992K loaders, and 773G/775E off-highway trucks, bearings are used for gearbox output shaft bearings, drive axle differential bearings, transfer case input shaft bearings, and hydraulic pump drive shaft bearings.

Performance Characteristics: The split structure facilitates installation, disassembly, and maintenance. The tapered roller design adapts to complex loads. The hardened material is fatigue-resistant and wear-resistant. The cage guides the rollers for stable operation, making it suitable for vibration conditions, ensuring transmission accuracy, and extending component life.

Core Functions and Structure:

Composite Load Bearing: The tapered roller design can simultaneously withstand radial and unidirectional axial loads, adapting to the radial support and axial positioning requirements of the shaft in the transmission system, preventing shaft movement, and ensuring the meshing accuracy of transmission components.

High-Efficiency Transmission and Friction Reduction: The rollers and raceways have line contact, resulting in a low coefficient of friction, reducing transmission energy loss, adapting to medium- and high-speed operating conditions, and simultaneously dissipating heat generated during operation, preventing bearing failure due to overheating.

Separable structure facilitates maintenance: The inner ring and roller assembly can be separated from the outer ring, facilitating clearance adjustment during installation. Maintenance does not require complete disassembly of the transmission components, reducing maintenance difficulty and time costs.

Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation Specifications: Clean the journal, bearing housing, and bearing, removing oil and impurities. Inspect the bearing for cracks, rollers for damage, and cage for deformation. Measure the dimensions of the journal and bearing housing to ensure the fit tolerances meet requirements.

Use hot mounting (oil temperature ≤100℃) or cold mounting methods. Do not directly strike the bearing end face. After installation, adjust the radial clearance to 0.015-0.035mm to ensure smooth and unobstructed bearing operation.

After installation, apply clean lithium-based grease or inject suitable gear oil for pre-lubrication before starting to avoid dry friction.

Maintenance Recommendations: Every 1500 working hours, check: bearing operating temperature (normal ≤90℃), lubrication system oil pressure and level, and for any abnormal noises from the bearing. If abnormal temperature, abnormal noises, or oil leaks occur, promptly check the bearing wear and clearance. When the radial clearance of a bearing exceeds 0.10 mm, or when damage such as pitting, spalling, or burning occurs on the raceway or rollers, it must be replaced. It is recommended to replace bearings in pairs to ensure the balance and stability of the transmission system.
