CAT 078-0625 is a Caterpillar original equipment bushing, compatible with 3044C/3054C engines, 306E/307E excavators, and 226B3/246B3 skid steer loaders. It is used for radial positioning, vibration damping, and wear resistance between the generator end cover bearing housing and the rotor shaft. It is often used in conjunction with the 078-0253 retainer and the 077-8727 bearing.
Core Parameters and Information
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 078-0625 (078625) Bushing
Structure Type: Cylindrical, with chamfered ends, 4 evenly distributed axial oil grooves in the inner hole, press-fit with interference fit
Material: CuSn6Zn6Pb3 tin bronze, tin-plated surface, conforming to CAT MES B0302 specification
Key Dimensions: Outer diameter 38 mm, inner diameter 28 mm, length 32 mm, chamfer 0.5×45°, oil groove width 2 mm, depth 0.5 mm

Compatibility Standard: Compatible with SAE J1926 bearing housing mounting standard, inner hole compatible with 077-8727 Bearing Outer Ring
Matching Relationship: Compatible with 3044C/3054C engines, 306E/307E excavators, and 226B3/236B3/246B3 skid steer loaders; compatible with 078-0253 retainer, 077-8727 bearing, and 077-8717 retaining ring.
Compatible Models and Application Scenarios
Compatible Equipment: Generator end cover bearing housing for CAT 3044C/3054C engines, 306E/307E mini excavators, and 226B3/236B3/246B3 skid steer loaders.
Application Scenarios: Radial positioning of the rotor shaft, vibration reduction and wear resistance, reducing frictional loss between the shaft and bearing housing, suitable for continuous operation conditions.
Matching Installation: Press the end cover into the bearing housing with an interference fit of 0.018-0.035 mm. Match the bearing and retainer. After installation, radial runout should be ≤0.05 mm.
Installation and Maintenance Points: Clean the bushing, bearing housing, and journal. Check for deformation and cracks. Ensure the bushing’s outer diameter matches the bearing housing’s inner diameter, and the inner bore is undamaged.
Use a special press to press the bushing into the bearing housing, ensuring the end face is flush with the housing bore without misalignment.
Post-installation Inspection: The bushing-journal clearance meets the standard, the rotor rotates smoothly without jamming, and the radial runout meets requirements.
Maintenance: Check bushing wear and clearance every 1000 hours. Replace immediately if wear exceeds 0.1 mm or clearance exceeds 0.1 mm.
