CAT 095-6034 (0956034) is the fixed ball for the track tensioning cylinder of the Caterpillar 400GT tracked chassis. It is compatible with heavy-duty models such as the 349/352/374/395 excavators and 982/988 loaders. It works in conjunction with the 095-6009 piston retainer, 095-5878 retainer, and 095-5581 spring base. Its core function is to position the tensioning cylinder piston, assist in transmitting tension force, and buffer impacts, ensuring stable pressure and reliable sealing in the track tensioning system. It is a key positioning and buffering component of the track tensioning mechanism.

Core Parameter Table

Item Details
Part Model CAT 095-6034 (0956034) Fixed Ball

Type Solid steel ball positioning part for track tensioning cylinder, compatible with 400GT track tensioning cylinder, matching 095-6009 piston retainer and 095-5878 retainer

Material GCr15 bearing steel, integral quenching + low temperature tempering (hardness HRC58-62), surface polishing + anti-rust coating, excellent wear resistance and impact resistance, suitable for hydraulic oil operation

Key Dimensions Diameter approx. 25-28mm, roundness tolerance ≤0.01mm, surface roughness Ra≤0.4μm, matching piston positioning hole diameter 25.2-25.8mm, precise fit with retainer groove

Compatible Models CAT 349, 352, 374, 395 excavators, 982, 988 Loaders and other 400GT tracked chassis equipment

Functional Positioning: Embedded in the piston positioning hole of the tensioning cylinder, working with the 095-6009 retaining ring to axially position the piston, assisting in the transmission of tension force, buffering piston impact under high pressure, and ensuring cylinder sealing and pressure stability.

Adaptation and Application:
Adaptation Location: Installed between the tensioning cylinder piston and the 095-6009 piston retaining ring, embedded in the piston positioning hole, working with the retaining ring to lock the piston’s axial position, and working with cylinder seals (such as 095-1689 O-rings) to prevent hydraulic oil leakage, ensuring stable transmission of tension force to the track.

Application Scenarios: Heavy-duty, high-frequency working conditions such as mining and infrastructure construction, bearing the impact of high-pressure hydraulic oil and piston reciprocating loads, preventing piston displacement leading to tension failure, excessively loose/tight tracks, and track deviation.

Core Functions: Precisely positions the piston, assists in the transmission of tension force, buffers impact loads, protects the cylinder barrel and seals, and extends the life of the tensioning system.

Installation and Maintenance Points

Installation: Clean the piston positioning hole and the surface of the retaining ball. Apply hydraulic oil and insert the piston into the positioning hole, ensuring a tight fit with the 095-6009 retaining ring. After installation, check the coaxiality of the piston and cylinder; the error should be ≤0.2mm to prevent uneven wear on the seals.

Maintenance Cycle: Check the retaining ball for wear, deformation, and surface scratches every 500 hours. In harsh environments such as mining, this period should be shortened to 200 hours.

Replacement Criteria: Replace the piston if it has surface pits, wear >0.5mm, out-of-tolerance roundness, or cannot fit the positioning hole/retaining ring. Use original parts whenever possible to avoid positioning failure and cylinder leakage due to dimensional/material deviations.
