CAT 095-6091 (0956091) is a track tensioner retainer for Caterpillar 400GT track chassis, compatible with models such as 349/352/374/395 excavators and 982/988 loaders. It works in conjunction with the 095-6009 piston retainer ring, 095-6034 retaining ball, and 095-5581 spring base. Its core function is to radially position and lock the tensioner cylinder piston assembly, preventing piston displacement under high-pressure conditions and ensuring the sealing and pressure stability of the track tensioning system. It is a key positioning and locking component of the track tensioning mechanism.

Item Details
Part Model CAT 095-6091 (0956091) Retainer
Type: Track tensioning cylinder radial positioning retainer, compatible with 400GT track tensioning cylinder, and matches with 095-6009 piston retainer, 095-6034 retaining ball, and 095-5581 spring base.
Material: 42CrMo alloy steel, overall tempering + surface carburizing and quenching (hardness HRC50-55), surface oxidation blackening/galvanizing passivation, high strength, high wear resistance, and resistance to hydraulic oil corrosion and impact fatigue.
Key Dimensions: Outer diameter approx. 120-130mm, inner diameter approx. 100-110mm, thickness approx. 15-20mm, locating pin hole diameter approx. 12-15mm, compatible with cylinder piston assembly radial positioning, and matches with 095-6009. Retaining ring clearance ≤ 0.15mm
Compatible Models: CAT 349, 352, 374, 395 excavators, 982, 988 loaders, and other 400GT tracked chassis equipment
Functional Positioning: Radially positions and locks the tension cylinder piston assembly, preventing piston displacement under high pressure. Works with the retaining ring/fixed ball to ensure cylinder sealing and pressure stability, protecting the tension spring and cylinder barrel.
Adaptation and Application:
Applicable Location: Installed between the track tension cylinder piston and the 095-6009 piston retaining ring. Radially positions the piston assembly, working with the 095-6034 fixed ball and 095-6009 retaining ring to lock the piston’s axial and radial positions. Works with cylinder seals (such as the 095-1689 O-ring) to prevent hydraulic oil leakage and ensure stable transmission of tension force to the track.
Application Scenarios: Suitable for heavy-duty, high-frequency working conditions such as mining and infrastructure construction. It withstands the impact of high-pressure hydraulic oil and the reciprocating load of the piston, preventing tension failure, excessively loose/tight tracks, and track misalignment caused by piston assembly displacement.
Core Functions: Radial positioning of the piston assembly, locking the position of the retaining ring and fixing ball, buffering impact loads, protecting the cylinder barrel and seals, and extending the life of the tensioning system.
Installation and Maintenance Points:
Installation: Clean the surface of the retainer and piston assembly, apply hydraulic oil, and install, ensuring a tight fit with the 095-6009 retaining ring and 095-6034 fixing ball without gaps; after installation, check the coaxiality, with an error ≤0.2mm, to avoid uneven wear on the seals.
Maintenance Cycle: Check the retainer for wear, deformation, and cracks every 500 hours; for harsh working conditions such as mining, this is shortened to 200 hours.
Replacement criteria: The retainer must be replaced if it is deformed, cracked, the locating pin hole is worn, or the clearance between it and the retaining ring/fixed ball is greater than 0.2mm. Original parts should be given priority to avoid positioning failure and cylinder leakage caused by size/material deviation.
