CAT 095-6768 (0956768) is the lower bearing cap for the track tensioner cylinder of the Caterpillar 400GT track chassis. It is compatible with models such as the 349/352/374/395 excavators and the 982/988 loaders. It works in conjunction with the 095-6009 piston retainer ring, 095-6034 retaining ball, 095-6429 retainer, and 095-6657 spring retainer ring. Its core function is to seal and support the lower bearing of the tensioner cylinder, withstand radial loads, prevent dust and moisture intrusion, and ensure the stable operation of the track tensioning system. It is a key sealing and support component of the track tensioning mechanism (Cat® Parts).

Item Details
Part Model CAT 095-6768 (0956768) Lower Bearing Cap
Type: Lower bearing support seal cover for track tensioning cylinder, compatible with 400GT track tensioning cylinder, and matches with 095-6429 retainer and 095-6657 spring retainer ring
Material: QT500-7 ductile iron, integral normalized + surface zinc spraying (80μm), tensile strength ≥500MPa, impact resistant, wear resistant, suitable for operating conditions from -40℃ to 120℃
Key Dimensions: Center inner diameter approx. Ø100-110mm (+0.035/0), outer diameter approx. Ø220-230mm, thickness approx. 35-40mm, positioning stop width approx. 10-12mm, sealing groove depth approx. 5-6mm
Compatible Models: CAT 400GT tracked chassis equipment, including 349, 352, 374, 395 excavators, 982, 988 loaders, etc.
Functional Positioning: Supports the lower bearing and seals the bottom of the hydraulic cylinder, bearing radial loads ≤150kN, preventing dust/moisture intrusion, and ensuring stable pressure and reliable sealing of the tensioning cylinder.
Adaptation and Application:
Applicable Parts: Installed at the bottom of the track tensioning cylinder, supporting the lower bearing and sealing the bottom of the cylinder. Works in conjunction with the 095-6429 retainer and the 095-6657 spring retainer, and with the 095-1689 O-ring to achieve a static seal, preventing hydraulic oil leakage and contaminant intrusion, ensuring stable transmission of tension force to the track.
Application Scenarios: Heavy-duty, high-frequency working conditions such as mining and infrastructure construction, bearing track tension force and ground impact, preventing lower bearing wear and cylinder contamination leading to tension failure, excessively loose/tight tracks, and track deviation.
Core Functions: Radial support for the lower bearing, bottom sealing, dust and water protection, extending the life of the lower bearing and seals by over 50% and reducing maintenance frequency.
Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation: Clean the contact surfaces of the bearing cap and cylinder. After installing the 095-1689 O-ring, apply hydraulic oil and evenly tighten the bolts (torque approximately 80-100 N·m) to ensure a leak-free seal. Ensure close contact with the lower bearing, with a radial clearance ≤0.05mm to avoid uneven bearing wear.
Maintenance Cycle: Check the bearing cap for deformation, cracks, and seal surface wear every 1000 hours. For harsh operating conditions such as mining, this period can be shortened to 500 hours.
Replacement Standard: The bearing cap must be replaced if it is deformed, cracked, has seal surface wear (depth > 0.2mm), or has a radial clearance > 0.1mm. Original parts are preferred to avoid seal failure and cylinder leakage due to dimensional/material deviations.
