CAT 095-6769 (0956769) is the upper bearing cap for the track tensioner cylinder of the Caterpillar 400GT tracked chassis. It is compatible with models such as the 349/352/374/395 excavators and the 982/988 loaders. It is paired with the lower bearing cap (095-6768) and works in conjunction with components such as the 095-6429 retainer and the 095-6657 spring retainer ring. Its core function is to seal the upper bearing of the track tensioner cylinder, provide radial support and axial positioning, prevent dust and moisture intrusion, and ensure stable pressure in the tensioner cylinder. It is a key sealing and support component of the track tensioning mechanism.

Item Details
Part Model CAT 095-6769 (0956769) Bearing Cap Top
Type: Upper bearing cap for track tensioning cylinder, paired with the lower bearing cap of 095-6768, suitable for 400GT track tensioning cylinders
Material: QT500-7 ductile iron, integral normalized + surface zinc spraying (80μm), tensile strength ≥500MPa, suitable for operating conditions from -40℃ to 120℃
Key Dimensions: Center inner diameter approx. Ø100-110mm (+0.035/0), outer diameter approx. Ø220-230mm, thickness approx. 35-40mm, locating stop width approx. 10-12mm, sealing groove depth approx. 5-6mm, coaxiality with 095-6768 ≤0.05mm
Compatible Models: CAT 400GT tracked chassis equipment, including excavators (349, 352, 374, 395), loaders (982, 988), etc.
Functional Positioning: Seals the upper bearing, provides radial support and axial positioning, works in conjunction with the 095-6768 lower bearing cover, and uses the 095-1689 O-ring to prevent leakage, ensuring stable pressure in the tensioning system.
Adaptation and Application:
Applicable Location: Installed on the upper part of the track tensioning cylinder, corresponding to the 095-6768 lower bearing cover, sealing the upper bearing. Works with the 095-6429 retainer and 095-6657 spring retainer to prevent component movement under high-pressure conditions, ensuring stable transmission of track tension.
Application Scenarios: Heavy-duty, high-frequency working conditions such as mining and infrastructure construction, bearing track tension and ground impact, preventing upper bearing wear and cylinder contamination leading to tension failure, excessively loose/tight tracks, and track deviation.
Core Functions: Radial support for the upper bearing, upper seal, dust and water protection, extending the life of the upper bearing and seals by over 50%, and reducing maintenance frequency.
Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation: Clean the contact surfaces of the bearing cap and cylinder. After installing the 095-1689 O-ring, apply hydraulic oil and evenly tighten the bolts (torque approximately 80-100 N·m) to ensure a leak-free seal. Ensure a tight fit with the upper bearing, with a radial clearance ≤0.05mm to avoid uneven bearing wear.
Maintenance Cycle: Check the bearing cap for deformation, cracks, and seal surface wear every 1000 hours. For harsh operating conditions such as mining, this period can be shortened to 500 hours.
Replacement Standard: The bearing cap must be replaced if it is deformed, cracked, has seal surface wear (depth > 0.2mm), or has a radial clearance > 0.1mm. Original parts are preferred to avoid seal failure and cylinder leakage due to dimensional/material deviations.
