CAT 095-7947 (0957947) is a track tensioning cylinder snap ring/retaining ring adapted for the 760GT tracked chassis. It is an internally locking elastic retainer ring used to lock the axial position of components such as the 095-7726 slipper retainer and the 095-7577 piston retainer. It is compatible with models such as the 395/374/352/349 excavators and the 988/982 loaders, and is a key Cat® Parts fastener preventing track tensioning mechanism loosening.

Core Parameter Table

Structure Type Internal locking elastic retaining ring, outer diameter approx. 85-95mm, inner diameter approx. 75-85mm, thickness 2.5-3.0mm, with 2 mounting notches, compatible with guide cylinder/fixed ring mounting slots

Compatible Models CAT 349, 352, 374, 395 excavators; 982, 988 loaders (760GT tracked chassis configuration)

Function Positioning Axial locking 095-7726 The 095-7577 piston retainer and slip shoe retainer prevent axial movement of components during the extension and retraction of the tensioning cylinder. Working in conjunction with the 095-7124 slip shoe and 095-7657 breather tube, they ensure the stability of the tensioning system.

Compatibility and Application
Installation Location: The annular groove at the front end of the track tensioning cylinder guide cylinder. Installed on the outside of the 095-7726 retainer, it is embedded in the groove and secured by elastic tension, locking the axial position of the retainer and preventing it from falling off under tension force.

Application Scenarios: Used in heavy-duty, high-frequency impact applications such as mining and infrastructure construction. It bears the axial load of the retainer, prevents component movement, avoids slip shoe rotation, guide cylinder wear, and seal damage due to loosening of the retainer, ensures stable track tension, and prevents track deviation.

Core Functions: Axial anti-detachment and locking retainer ensure the installation accuracy and stability of the tensioning mechanism components. Combined with the 095-7726 retainer, it strengthens slip shoe positioning and extends the service life of the tensioning cylinder and slip shoe.

Installation and Maintenance Points

Installation: Clean the guide cylinder groove, buckle, and fixing device mounting surface to remove oil, rust, and impurities, ensuring the buckle is free of deformation and gaps.

Use special retaining ring pliers to pry open the buckle and insert it into the guide cylinder groove, ensuring the buckle is fully engaged at the bottom of the groove and fits tightly against the fixing device end face without looseness.

After installation, check the buckle’s installation firmness. Start the machine to test the extension and retraction of the tension cylinder, checking for any buckle popping out or abnormal noise.

Maintenance Cycle: Under standard operating conditions, check the buckle’s elasticity, wear, and deformation every 1000 hours; for mining operating conditions, shorten this to 500 hours. Replace immediately if decreased elasticity or deformation is found.

Replacement Criteria: Buckles must be replaced if they exhibit loss of elasticity, opening deformation, thickness wear > 0.3mm, or cannot be properly secured to the fixing device after installation. Original parts are preferred to avoid dimensional deviations that could lead to fixing device detachment or tensioning mechanism malfunction.
