CAT 095-8343 (0958343) is a track tensioner piston retainer for the 760GT tracked chassis. It is a ring-shaped stepped locating component used to lock the axial position of the tensioner cylinder piston assembly. It is compatible with models such as the 395/374/352/349 excavators and 988/982 loaders, and works in conjunction with the 095-7947 retainer and 095-8076 spring base to ensure stable operation of the track tensioning system.

Item Details
Part Model CAT 095-8343 (0958343) Fixture (Dedicated for 760GT Track Tensioning Cylinder Piston)
Material 42CrMo alloy steel, tempered and surface anodized, hardness HRC35-40, impact resistant, wear resistant, suitable for operating conditions from -40℃ to 120℃
Structure Type Annular stepped type, outer diameter approx. 120-130mm, inner diameter approx. 100-110mm, step height approx. 10-12mm, with radial locating key, compatible with piston/guide cylinder mounting slots
Compatible Models CAT 349, 352, 374, 395 excavators; 982, 988 loaders (760GT tracked chassis configuration)
Function Positioning Axially locks the tensioning cylinder piston assembly, preventing axial movement during piston extension and retraction, compatible with 095-7947 The retaining ring and 095-8076 spring base work together to ensure stable tension and prevent component loosening.
Compatibility and Application
Installation Location: Inside the guide cylinder of the track tensioning cylinder, located between the piston and the 095-8076 spring base. The positioning key is embedded in the keyway of the guide cylinder, the stepped surface fits against the piston end face, and the outer side is locked by the 095-7947 retaining ring to prevent axial movement of the piston.
Application Scenarios: Heavy-duty, high-frequency impact conditions such as mining and infrastructure construction, bearing the axial load and vibration of the piston, adapting to the dynamic load during track tensioning/buffering, preventing piston movement that could damage cylinder seals, cause track tension fluctuations, and track misalignment.
Core Function: Axially positioning piston assembly, transmitting tension force, working in conjunction with the retaining ring and spring base to ensure the installation accuracy and stability of tensioning system components, extending the service life of cylinders, pistons, and other components.
Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation: Clean the guide cylinder, retainer, piston, and retainer mounting surfaces to remove oil, rust, and impurities. Check the locating key and keyway for damage.
Insert the retainer into the guide cylinder, aligning the locating key with the keyway and the stepped surface facing the piston. Place the piston assembly, ensuring a tight fit. Install the 095-7947 retainer to lock the retainer’s axial position, checking for looseness or misalignment.
Start the machine and test the tension cylinder’s extension and retraction. Check for abnormal noise from the retainer and ensure stable tension.
Maintenance Cycle: Under standard operating conditions, check the retainer for wear, locating key deformation, and clearance with the piston/retainer every 1000 hours. For mining conditions, shorten this to 500 hours. Address any abnormalities immediately.
Replacement Criteria: Replace the retainer if: retainer step wear > 1.5mm; locating key deformation/breakage; surface cracks; clearance with piston > 0.8mm; or if the piston cannot be positioned after installation. Use original parts whenever possible to avoid dimensional deviations that could cause piston movement or cylinder damage.
