The 096-0258 is a Caterpillar 760mm wide (760 GT) heavy-duty integral track shoe, optimized for mining/hard rock conditions. It belongs to the 760GT chassis series, the same as the 096-0232 track shoe, but differs in tooth base, plate thickness, and reinforcing ribs. It is compatible with 349/352/374/395 excavators and 982/988 large loaders. It can be equipped with the 096-0255 three-grip teeth, working in conjunction with the 095-9936 tension spring and 095-9962 spring seat to provide strong load-bearing capacity and wear resistance.

Project Details
Part Number: CAT 096-0258 (0960258), 760 GT Track Plate
Structure: Integral casting, with integrated tooth base, double bolt holes, positioning stop, and track pin holes; replaceable individually without disassembling the entire track.
Material: High-strength wear-resistant cast steel (ZGMn13 modified high-manganese steel, or CAT special wear-resistant alloy), quenched + low-temperature tempered + surface shot peening; HB≥420, tensile strength≥1300MPa, impact toughness not less than 95J/cm²
Key Dimensions: Track plate width 760 mm (760 GT standard), pitch according to the unified standard of 760GT chassis; tooth base interface fully compatible with 096-0255 (three-grip tooth), double M24×2 bolt holes; plate thickness 12–15% thicker than the ordinary version, with denser reinforcing ribs.
Compatible Models: CAT 349, 352, 374, 395 Excavators; 982, 988 Loaders (must be configured with a 760 GT tracked chassis; cannot be directly mounted on narrow-plate/wetland-type chassis)

Single plate weight: Approximately 185 kg (760GT heavy-duty specification; refer to the dealer’s weighing/parts manual for specific weight)

Function: Transfers the weight of the entire machine, provides ground support, and the toothed blocks enhance traction; protects track links and the traveling mechanism, resisting hard rock impacts and abrasive wear.

Compatibility and Application:

Difference from 096-0232: 096-0232 is the standard 760GT track plate; 096-0258 is a reinforced heavy-duty version with thicker plates, more reinforcing ribs, and increased tooth base wall thickness, primarily used for long-term high-impact conditions in mining stripping, large quarries, and hard rock tunnels; 096-0232 is suitable for general heavy-duty/earthmoving applications.

Grip Teeth Matching: Perfectly compatible with 096-0255 triple traction teeth, secured with double M24 bolts, positioning clearance ≤0.2mm; also compatible with single/five-tooth teeth of the same series, but the 760GT heavy-duty model prioritizes triple teeth.

Installation Location: Track chain grounding unit; each track plate is connected to the chain link via track pins; replacement can be done piece by piece without disassembling the entire track chain.

Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation Procedure: Thoroughly clean the track plate pin holes, tooth seat surfaces, and bolt holes to remove rust, dirt, and old seals; apply CAT 106-3960 special lubricant to the tooth seat surfaces to prevent jamming.

Assemble the track pins to the specified torque; tighten the M24 bolts of the traction teeth (096-0255) symmetrically and crosswise to a torque of 820±30 N·m; retighten once after 24 hours.

Post-installation inspection: No gaps between the track blocks and the track seats; no track plate misalignment; no abnormal noise during movement; tension meets original factory standards.

Maintenance cycle: 800 hours under standard operating conditions, check track plate wear, bolt torque, and pin hole clearance; shorten to 400 hours for mining/rock conditions and record data.

Replacement criteria: Track plate wear exceeding 30% of original thickness; cracked/deformed track seats; track pin hole ovality > 1.5mm; stripped bolt holes; welding repairs to cracked track plates for continued use are strictly prohibited.
