096-0285 is the original alloy steel three-tooth track shoe for the Caterpillar 760GT heavy-duty tracked chassis. It shares the same chassis platform as 096-0232, but is a thickened, wear-resistant version/optimized for specific models. Installed on the outside of the track links, it bears the weight of the machine, transmits traction, and protects the track links and track rollers. It is primarily designed for high-impact, high-abrasion conditions such as hard rock mining, large quarries, and tunneling. It is fully compatible with 095 series tensioning components (095-9882 retainer, 095-9936 spring, 095-9962 spring seat) and 096-0255 three-grip teeth, working in tandem with Cat® Parts.
Core Parameter Table (Original Manufacturer Nominal, Actual Measurements Recommended Based on Dealer Samples/Manuals)
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 096-0285 (0960285) Heavy-Duty Three-Tooth Track Plate (760GT Track Chassis)
Structure Type: Integral forged alloy steel, three standard grip teeth, with double bolt holes, wear-resistant weld overlay on tooth surface, rounded ends to prevent stress cracking, tooth root reinforcement design
Material: ZGMn13 high-manganese wear-resistant steel + alloy structural steel composite forging, quenching + low-temperature tempering + surface shot peening + Caterpillar yellow anti-corrosion coating; Brinell hardness HB≥390, tensile strength≥1280MPa, impact toughness≥85J/cm², wear life 3 times longer than ordinary carbon steel track plates
Key Dimensions: Plate width approximately 610mm (same as 760GT standard), plate thickness 60mm (compared to 096-0232’s 55mm) Thickened by 5mm); traction tooth height approximately 45mm, tooth spacing approximately 180mm; bolt specification M30×2, double bolt fastening, hole spacing exactly the same as 760GT track links.
Compatible Models: CAT 349, 352, 374, 395 large hydraulic excavators; 982, 988 large wheel loaders (760GT tracked chassis configuration, and models designed for heavy-duty/rock conditions).
Functional Positioning: Heavy-duty bearing, strong grip, impact resistance and wear resistance, protects the track system, reduces early cracking of the track plates and tooth roots.
Suitable Application Scenarios:
Installation Location: Outside the track link, fastened with double M30 high-strength bolts, with a 2-3mm thermal expansion gap between adjacent plates; must be replaced in pairs, mixing different models/batch/non-original track plates is strictly prohibited.
Operating Condition Classification: Prioritize hard rock mining, quarries, and tunnels; strictly prohibited for use on swamps/muddy or extremely soft surfaces (wide wetland track shoes recommended).
Matching and Coordination: During replacement, simultaneously check 096-0255 traction teeth, track pins/bushings, track rollers/idlers; for the tensioning system, retest 095-9936 spring preload and 095-9962 spring seats for wear/cracks.
Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation Procedure: Thoroughly clean bolt holes and chain link contact surfaces to remove rust, oil, and welding slag; apply Cat 106-3960 grease to prevent jamming and corrosion; tighten M30 bolts symmetrically and crosswise, controlling the torque to 1250±50 N·m; retighten once after 24 hours.
After installation, check the track sag (standard is 3%–5% of the track roller spacing), and conduct no-load/heavy-load walking tests to confirm there is no deviation, abnormal noise, or loose bolts.
Maintenance cycle: 1000 hours under standard working conditions; shortened to 400–500 hours under mining/rock conditions; record tooth height, plate thickness, and bolt torque data.
Replacement criteria: Track teeth wear > 50% (remaining <22mm), through-cracks in the plate, deformed and stripped bolt holes, and plate thickness reduction > 10% (>6mm) must be replaced in pairs; welding repairs of cracks are strictly prohibited (as this can easily lead to breakage accidents).
