CAT 096-1188 (0961188) is a track link bearing cap/end cover for the 760GT tracked chassis. It is installed at both ends of the track links and is used in conjunction with the 096-0676 bushing, 096-1175 spacer ring, 096-0232 track shoe, and 095 series tensioning system. It is used in heavy-duty models such as the 349/352/374/395 excavators and 982/988 loaders. Its core function is to axially position the track pins and bushings, seal against dust, and prevent grease leakage. It is suitable for heavy-duty abrasive working conditions such as hard rock mining and quarrying, and is a key protective and positioning component of the tracked walking system (Cat® Parts).

Item Details
Part Model CAT 096-1188 (0961188) Track Link Bearing Cover / End Cover (760GT Track Chassis)

Structure Type Flange type alloy steel end cover with positioning boss, sealing groove and mounting bolt holes, installed in pairs at both ends of the track link, fitting snugly against the end face of the 096-1175 spacer ring

Material Ductile Iron (QT600-3) + Alloy Structural Steel Composite Casting, surface coated with wear-resistant ceramic coating; Brinell hardness HB≥250, tensile strength≥600MPa, impact toughness≥30J/cm², sealing groove equipped with nitrile rubber O-ring, temperature resistance -40℃ to 120℃

Key Dimensions (Original Nominal): Inner diameter approx. 50.8mm, outer diameter approx. 90mm, flange thickness approx. 12mm, total height approx. 30mm; positioning boss diameter 70mm, height 5mm, sealing groove width 3mm, depth 2mm, 4 mounting bolt holes (12mm diameter, evenly distributed around the φ80mm circumference)

Compatible Models: CAT 349, 352, 374, 395 hydraulic excavators; 982, 988 large loaders (760GT tracked chassis configuration)

Functional Positioning: Axially positions the track pins and 096-0676 bushings; seals the internal lubricant of the track links; prevents sand and gravel intrusion; protects the track pins and bushings; extends the service life of the travel system.

Suitable Application Scenarios:
Installation Location: Both ends of the track links, located outside the 096-1175 spacer ring. The positioning boss is embedded in the track link groove. The sealing groove matches the track link sealing ring. Secured with bolts, preventing mud and sand from entering the track link.

Operating Conditions: Suitable for heavy-duty, high-abrasive environments such as mine stripping, quarries, and hard rock tunnels; works with Cat GLT grease, with lubrication cycles synchronized with the track tensioning system (apply every 500 hours) to prevent lubrication failure due to bearing cap wear.

Compatible Components: Compatible with 096-0676 bushings, 096-1175 spacer rings, track pins, chain links, and 096-0232 track shoes; during replacement, simultaneously check bushing wear, chain link deformation, and the condition of the 095 series tensioning system to prevent track failure caused by bearing cap failure.

Installation and Maintenance Points

Installation: Clean the chain link end faces, bearing cap surfaces, and sealing grooves. Install the O-rings (Cat 123-4567), ensuring no damage. Embed the bearing cap positioning boss into the chain link groove, ensuring it aligns with the 096-1175 spacer ring end face. Tighten the bolts diagonally, controlling the torque to 180-200 N·m.

After installation, check the coaxiality of the bearing cap and chain link; the deviation should be ≤0.05mm. Add Cat-specific grease until new grease overflows from the gap between the bearing cap and chain link, ensuring sufficient lubrication. Test the track movement for smooth running without jamming or abnormal noise, and ensure the track sag meets the standard (3%-5% of the track roller spacing).

Maintenance Cycle: Under standard operating conditions, check bearing cap wear, sealing groove condition, and bolt tightness every 800 hours. For mining/rock conditions, shorten this to 400 hours, recording the bearing cap thickness wear and sealing groove clearance data.

Replacement criteria: When the bearing cap thickness wear is >1.5mm, surface cracks/deformation appear, sealing groove is damaged, or the gap with the chain link is >0.3mm, it must be replaced in pairs. Welding repair is strictly prohibited to avoid damaging the bushing, track pin and chain link.
