CAT 096-1558 (0961558) is a track pin safety retainer (anti-loosening locking plate) adapted for the 760GT tracked chassis. It is used in conjunction with the 096-1555 retainer for 349/352/374/395 excavators and 982/988 loaders. Installed in pairs at both ends of the track pins, it forms a double-locking mechanism to prevent axial movement. Suitable for heavy-duty working conditions such as hard rock mines and quarries, it is a key safety redundancy component of the tracked walking system (Cat® Parts).

Key Dimensions Length approx. 42mm, width approx. 26mm, thickness approx. 4.5mm; positioning tooth height 2mm, fits track pin φ10mm positioning hole, gap with chain link positioning groove ≤0.1mm
Compatible Models CAT 349, 352, 374, 395 excavators; 982, 988 Loader (760GT tracked chassis, equipped with 096-0676 bushing, 096-1175 spacer ring, 096-1188 bearing cap, 096-1555 retainer)
Function: Assists in locking the track pins, forming a double anti-detachment mechanism with the 096-1555 retainer to prevent track pin detachment and chain link separation, ensuring the safety and stability of the running gear.
Suitable for:
Installation Location: At both ends of the track pin, embedded in the chain link positioning groove. Double positioning teeth engage with the track pin positioning hole. The anti-loosening buckle meshes with the chain link groove, ensuring a seamless fit with the 096-1555 retainer.
Working Conditions: Suitable for heavy-duty, high-impact environments such as mining stripping, quarries, and hard rock tunnels; works with Cat GLT grease, check the retainer condition every 500 hours.
Operating Conditions: Suitable for heavy-duty, high-impact environments such as mining stripping, quarries, and hard rock tunnels; uses Cat GLT grease, check the retainer condition every 500 hours.
Matching Components: Compatible with 096-0676 bushings, 096-1175 spacer rings, 096-1188 bearing caps, track pins, chain links, 096-0232 track shoes, and 096-1555 retainers; during replacement, simultaneously check track pin wear, chain link deformation, and the condition of the 095 series tensioning system (Cat® Parts).
Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation: Clean the track pin locating holes, chain link locating grooves, and retainer surfaces to remove rust and oil; align the double locating teeth with the track pin locating holes, press them into the locating grooves with a special tool, ensuring the anti-loosening clips fully engage with the grooves and fit seamlessly with the 096-1555.
After installation, check the fit, test track movement for no jamming or abnormal noise, and ensure track sag is 3%-5% of the track roller spacing.
Maintenance cycle: Under standard operating conditions, check for deformation, wear, and engagement every 800 hours; for mining/rock conditions, shorten to 400 hours, recording the thickness wear and positioning tooth height data.
Replacement standard: When deformation, cracks, positioning tooth wear >1mm, anti-loosening clip failure, or clearance with track pins >0.2mm occurs, the parts must be replaced in pairs; repair and reuse are strictly prohibited.
