CAT 096-1823 (0961823) is a track pin auxiliary retainer (anti-loosening clip) adapted for the 760GT tracked chassis. Along with the 096-1555/096-1558 retainers, it belongs to the track pin locking assembly. Installed in pairs at the ends of the track pins, it is used on heavy-duty models such as the 349/352/374/395 excavators and the 982/988 loaders. Its core function is to assist in locking the track pins and prevent axial movement. It is suitable for heavy-duty abrasive working conditions such as hard rock mines and quarries, and is a key safety redundancy component of the tracked walking system.

Item Details
Part Model CAT 096-1823 (0961823) Track Pin Auxiliary Fixer / Anti-loosening Clip (760GT Track Chassis Dedicated)
Structure Type High-strength alloy steel elastic clip, single positioning tooth + double anti-loosening buckle, installed in pairs at both ends of the track pin, working in conjunction with 096-1555/096-1558 fixer
Material 65Mn spring steel, quenched + low-temperature tempered; Dacromet coating for corrosion protection, hardness HRC40-46, elastic limit ≥1100MPa, suitable for operating conditions from -40℃ to 120℃
Key Dimensions (Original Nominal): Length approx. 40mm, width approx. 24mm, thickness approx. 4mm; positioning tooth height 1.8mm, anti-loosening buckle width 6mm, thickness 2.5mm, suitable for track pins φ9mm Positioning hole, gap between the positioning hole and the chain link positioning groove ≤ 0.1mm.
Compatible models: CAT 349, 352, 374, 395 hydraulic excavators; 982, 988 large loaders (760GT tracked chassis configuration, compatible with 096-1555/096-1558 fixing device).
Functional positioning: Auxiliary locking of track pins to prevent axial movement. Forms a triple lock with 096-1555/096-1558, preventing track pin detachment and chain link separation, ensuring the safety and stability of the travel system.
Compatibility and application scenarios:
Installation position: Both ends of the track pin, embedded in the chain link positioning groove. A single positioning tooth engages with the track pin positioning hole, and double anti-loosening buckles mesh with the chain link groove, fitting snugly with the 096-1555/096-1558 fixing device without gaps.
Operating Conditions: Suitable for heavy-duty, high-impact environments such as mine stripping, quarries, and hard rock tunnels; works with Cat GLT grease. Check the track retainer condition every 500 hours to prevent track pin movement caused by clamp deformation.
Compatible Components: Compatible with 096-0676 bushings, 096-1175 spacer rings, 096-1188 bearing caps, track pins, chain links, 096-0232 track shoes, and 096-1555/096-1558 track retainers; during replacement, simultaneously check track pin wear, chain link deformation, and the condition of the 095 series tensioning system to prevent track failure caused by track retainer malfunction.
Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation: Clean the track pin locating holes, chain link locating grooves, and the surface of the retainer, removing rust and oil. Align the single locating tooth of the retainer with the track pin locating hole and press it into the chain link locating groove using a special tool, ensuring the anti-loosening clip fully engages with the chain link groove and fits snugly with the 096-1555/096-1558 retainer without gaps.
After installation, check the fit between the retainer and the track pins and chain links to ensure there is no looseness. Test the track movement for smooth running without jamming or abnormal noise, and ensure the track sag meets the standard (3%-5% of the track roller spacing).
Maintenance Cycle: Under standard operating conditions, check for deformation, wear, and engagement every 800 hours; for mining/rock conditions, shorten to 400 hours, recording the thickness wear and locating tooth height data.
Replacement criteria: If deformation, cracks, wear of positioning teeth >1mm, failure of anti-loosening buckles, or gap with track pins >0.2mm occurs, they must be replaced in pairs. Repair and reuse are strictly prohibited.
