CAT 146-6766 is a Caterpillar original single-row tapered roller bearing (including inner ring/outer ring/rollers/cage assembly), suitable for heavy-duty transmission components such as drive axle differentials and gearbox output shafts in some medium and large Cat loaders and excavators. The following is pure original data and does not include replacement parts information (Cat® Parts).

Core Technical Parameters (Raw Data)

Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 146-6766, Type: Single-row tapered roller bearing (separate, removable inner/outer ring), Material: Bearing steel (GCr15SiMn, quenching hardness HRC60-64), Weight: 2.38 kg, Applicable operating conditions: Heavy load, low-to-medium speed, impact and vibration conditions, Operating temperature: -30℃ to +120℃, Lubrication method: Oil lubrication (compatible with Cat DEO-ULS 15W-40 diesel engine oil), Protection rating: IP54, Fitting accuracy: Inner ring k5 (shaft) / Outer ring H7 (bore)

Key Dimensions
Inner diameter d=85 mm (tolerance 0/-0.015 mm), Outer diameter D=140 mm (tolerance 0/-0.018 mm), Width T=36 mm (tolerance ±0.12 mm), Number of rollers: 16, Roller diameter: 12 mm (tolerance ±0.12 mm) 0/-0.01 mm), cone angle α=12°30′ (tolerance ±15′), inner ring large end chamfer C3 (tolerance ±0.2 mm), outer ring small end chamfer C2 (tolerance ±0.2 mm), cage material stamped low carbon steel (SPCC, galvanized surface)

Performance Parameters: Radial rated load Cr=112 kN, axial rated load Ca=58 kN, rated static load Cor=145 kN, allowable speed ≤2200 rpm (oil lubrication), coefficient of friction ≤0.005 (oil lubrication condition), fatigue life ≥10000 hours (normal condition), elastic modulus 208 GPa, linear expansion coefficient 12×10⁻⁶/℃, roller contact stress ≤3200 MPa

Structural and Performance Advantages: Separable structure: inner and outer rings are separable, facilitating installation and maintenance, and suitable for assembly operations in compact spaces.

Tapered roller design: Capable of simultaneously with radial and unidirectional axial loads, suitable for drive axles, gearboxes, and other transmission components subject to both radial and axial forces.

Bearing steel material: Quenched, tempered, and precision ground, possessing high hardness, high wear resistance, and impact resistance, suitable for complex operating conditions in engineering machinery.

Stamped cage: Lightweight design, precise roller guidance, reducing operating noise and friction, and improving the bearing’s high-speed adaptability.

Installation and maintenance points (raw data)

Installation: Clean the journal and housing bore (free from oil, rust, and impurities). The inner ring and journal should have an interference fit (interference 0.012-0.020 mm), and the outer ring and housing bore should have a transition fit (clearance 0-0.015 mm). Use a special tooling to evenly press the bearing in (do not strike). After installation, adjust the axial clearance (0.05-0.10 mm) to ensure unobstructed oil passages.

Maintenance: Check oil level and quality every 500 hours; add suitable engine oil if the oil level is below the minimum mark. Check bearing clearance every 2000 hours; replace the bearing if clearance exceeds 0.2 mm. Avoid overload and insufficient lubrication to prevent roller fatigue and spalling.

Troubleshooting: Abnormal operating noise is often due to roller wear or cage damage, requiring bearing replacement. Abnormal temperature rise is often due to poor lubrication or improper clearance; check the oil passages and adjust the clearance. Excessive axial movement requires bearing replacement and inspection of journal and housing wear.
