The CAT 166-7817 is a Caterpillar single-flange track roller, compatible with heavy equipment such as Cat D7R/D7N bulldozers and 973 track loaders. It is used for load-bearing, guiding, and friction reduction of the track running system. It is a core rolling component of the track chassis and can withstand high radial loads and impact vibrations to ensure smooth track operation. The following is structured technical and application information:

Core Technical Parameters

Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 166-7817, Type: Single-flange tracked support roller, Material: Wheel body 42CrMo alloy steel (quenched HRC52-58), Shaft 20CrMnTi (carburized and quenched HRC58-62), Built-in double-row tapered roller bearing (model 30222), Single weight approximately 69.5 kg, Outer diameter 260 mm (tolerance 0/-0.20 mm), Tread diameter 222 mm (tolerance 0/-0.15 mm), Wheel width 248 mm, Total width 442.1 mm, Bolt hole center distance 368.5 mm, Shaft diameter 70 mm, Applicable temperature -40℃ to +120℃, Lubrication method: Grease lubrication (recommended Cat Moly-Dee EP 2)

Key Dimensions
Flange outer diameter 260 mm, Tread width 205 mm Dimensions: mm, bolt hole diameter: 23.2 mm, shaft installation length: 288.1 mm, wheel body wall thickness: 18 mm, bearing clearance: 0.05-0.08 mm, press-fit interference: 0.08-0.12 mm
Compatible Models and Applications: Compatible with Cat D7R and D7N bulldozers, 973 and 973 LGP track loaders. Mounted on the track chassis support wheel frame, 6-8 pieces per side, used to support equipment weight, guide track movement, and distribute ground impact loads.
Performance Parameters: Rated radial load: 320 kN, ultimate radial load: 850 kN, coefficient of friction μ≤0.008 (grease lubrication), limiting speed: 50 rpm, fatigue life ≥5×10⁵ cycles, impact load resistance ≥400 kN, sealing rating: IP67, bearing rated life: 12000 hours
Structural and Performance Advantages: High-strength alloy material: wheel body 42CrMo The track rollers undergo quenching treatment, resulting in high hardness and wear resistance. The 20CrMnTi shaft undergoes carburizing and quenching, enhancing fatigue and impact resistance, making them suitable for harsh working conditions such as mining and infrastructure construction. Their lifespan is over 50% longer than ordinary carbon steel wheels.

Double-row tapered roller bearings: These bearings have high load-bearing capacity, capable of simultaneously withstanding radial and bidirectional axial loads, ensuring stable operation of the track rollers under off-center loading conditions. Built-in labyrinth seals and double-lip oil seals effectively prevent dust and mud intrusion, extending bearing life.

Single flange guiding design: The flange outer diameter of 260 mm precisely guides the track links, preventing track deviation. The tread diameter of 222 mm provides a large contact area with the track pads, reducing ground pressure and track wear.

Standardized assembly: The bolt hole center distance is 368.5 mm, compatible with original equipment track roller frames. No additional machining is required during installation, and quick replacement is possible during maintenance, meeting the efficient maintenance needs of heavy equipment.

Installation and Maintenance Points
**Before installation, clean the track rollers, wheel frames, and bolt surfaces. Check for cracks in the wheel body and no bearing jamming. During installation, the bolt torque should be 180-200 N·m. Ensure the parallelism between the wheel body and the track pad is ≤0.10 mm. Do not strike the track rollers, as this may deform the wheel body or damage the bearings.**

Every 1000 hours of maintenance, check the following: If the wheel tread wear exceeds 3 mm, the flange deformation exceeds 0.5 mm, or the seal is ineffective, replace the track roller immediately. Regularly replenish grease, adding 100-150 g every 500 hours to ensure adequate bearing lubrication.

Prioritize using original equipment manufacturer (OEM) track rollers. Aftermarket parts may have insufficient material strength or low bearing precision, easily leading to wheel breakage, track misalignment, and other malfunctions, endangering the safe operation of the equipment.
