CAT 170-9998 is a Caterpillar genuine single-row tapered roller bearing (including inner ring + outer ring + roller assembly), suitable for differentials, hubs, or gearboxes of excavators, loaders, and other equipment. It can withstand heavy radial and unidirectional axial loads, is suitable for shock conditions, and ensures stable operation of the transmission system. Cat®…
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 170-9998 Tapered Roller Bearing (Single Row, Separable Inner and Outer Rings)
Material: Inner ring/outer ring/rollers are made of high-carbon chromium bearing steel, hardened (HRC 60-64); cage is made of stamped steel plate/brass, impact-resistant and fatigue-resistant; seals are made of nitrile rubber, dustproof and leak-proof.
Key Dimensions: Inner diameter approx. 100-120mm, outer diameter approx. 180-200mm, width approx. 40-50mm, weight approx. 7-9kg (subject to actual product/manual), radial clearance C3 grade, suitable for heavy-duty conditions.
Compatible Machines: Excavators 320D/336D, Loaders 950K/966K, Bulldozers D6N/D7E, etc., used in differentials, wheel hubs, gearbox output ends, etc.
Performance Characteristics: Separable design facilitates installation and maintenance; tapered roller structure withstands radial + Unidirectional axial load; surface hardening enhances wear resistance and lifespan; adaptable to impact and vibration conditions, extending system life.
Core Functions and Structure
Heavy-duty bearing and positioning: Tapered rollers make line contact with the raceway, capable of withstanding large radial loads and unidirectional axial loads, providing precise axial positioning, preventing component movement, and adapting to the power transmission needs of drive systems.
Easy installation and efficient maintenance: Separable inner and outer rings facilitate individual replacement of damaged components, reducing maintenance costs and downtime, suitable for rapid on-site maintenance scenarios.
Shock absorption and stable operation: Large contact area between rollers and raceways disperses impact loads, reduces vibration and noise, protects the shaft system and housing, suitable for harsh working conditions such as mining and infrastructure.
Sealing protection and lubrication retention: Integrated sealing rings/dust covers prevent dust and moisture intrusion, reduce grease leakage, and extend lubrication cycles and bearing life.
Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation Specifications: Clean the journal, bearing housing bore, and bearing to remove oil, rust, and impurities; check that the roundness, cylindricity, and surface roughness of the shaft/bore meet standards, and that there are no scratches/pits.
Use hot fitting (oil temperature 80-100℃) or cold pressing processes with specialized tooling for installation. Do not directly strike the outer/inner ring to avoid deformation or cracking; adjust the preload after installation to ensure smooth rotation without jamming.
Add the specified grease (such as extreme pressure lithium-based grease) according to the equipment manual to ensure sufficient lubrication of the rollers and raceways. After assembly, recheck that the axial and radial clearances meet standards.
Maintenance Recommendations: Check every 1000-1500 working hours for: abnormal bearing noise, abnormal temperature rise, seal leakage, and loose bolts.
If pitting, outer ring cracks, seal failure, or excessive clearance is found on the rollers/raceways, replace immediately to avoid secondary damage to critical components such as the shaft system and housing.
