CAT 172-6743 is a Caterpillar internal spline deep groove ball bearing designed for drive systems. It is suitable for the drive shaft/differential end of equipment such as skid steer loaders and mini excavators. It is used to transmit torque and bear radial loads, and has both positioning and transmission functions. It is suitable for medium and low speed heavy load conditions. The following is structured technical and application information:

Core Technical Parameters

Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 172-6743, Type: Single-row deep groove ball bearing with internal spline, Material: High carbon chromium bearing steel (100Cr6), Integral quenching + low-temperature tempering (HRC60-64), Single weight: Approximately 0.32 kg, Applicable temperature: -30℃ to +120℃, Recommended lubrication: Cat MTO 10W-30, Sealing type: Double-sided rubber seal, Clearance grade: C3

Key Dimensions
Inner diameter: 35 mm (20 internal spline teeth, module 1.75, pressure angle 20°), Outer diameter: 62 mm (tolerance G6), Width: 20 mm (tolerance ±0.10 mm), Spline fit tolerance: H7/h6, Chamfer: 1.5 mm × 45°, Ball diameter: 7.5 mm (12 balls, chromium steel), Cage reinforced nylon, Installation clearance 0.012-0.028 mm
Compatible Models and Applications: Compatible with Cat 226B3, 232B2, 242B3 skid steer loaders, and 301.7CR/302.7CR mini excavators. Used for drive shaft end/differential input shaft support. Supporting parts include splined shaft, bearing housing, and locking circlip. Suitable for speeds ≤2800 r/min, rated radial load ≥14 kN, rated axial load ≥4.2 kN.
Performance Parameters: Rated dynamic load 16.8 kN, rated static load 9.5 kN, limiting speed (grease lubrication) 5800 r/min, fatigue life ≥12000 hours, coefficient of friction ≤0.0018, waterproof and dustproof rating IP55.
Structural and Performance Advantages: Integrated spline drive: Precise meshing between internal splines and shaft end splines, no keyway clearance, zero torque slippage, suitable for drive shaft power transmission requirements, avoiding the risk of key connection loosening.

**Sealed, Dustproof, and Moisture-proof:** Double-sided rubber seals and a dust-proof lip design effectively prevent dust and mud from entering, suitable for harsh outdoor conditions, extending grease life and bearing durability.

**High Load Capacity and Low Friction:** The deep groove ball joint structure can withstand bidirectional radial loads and a small amount of axial load. A reinforced nylon cage reduces steel ball friction, suitable for frequent start-stop and variable load conditions.

**Easy Installation and Precise Positioning:** Spline + interference fit eliminates the need for additional keyway positioning during installation. Secured with a snap ring/lock nut, radial runout ≤0.02 mm, ensuring transmission accuracy.

**Installation and Maintenance Points:** Before installation, clean the spline shaft and bearing inner bore, checking for burrs and deformation in the spline. Use cold fitting or press fitting (pressure ≤6 kN, applied to the inner ring), and avoid striking the outer ring. Apply Cat Moly Paste grease to the spline meshing surfaces. After installation, axial runout ≤0.05 mm, and rotation without jamming.

**** After a 25-minute trial run, the bearing temperature should be ≤78℃, with no abnormal noise or vibration. Check the spline wear and sealing condition every 400 hours, and replenish grease every 800 hours (to 1/3 of the bearing cavity volume). Replace the bearing when the spline tooth wear exceeds 0.15 mm.

When replacing, ensure the original manufacturer’s spline shaft is used to avoid non-standard splines causing poor meshing and premature bearing failure.
