CAT 172-9861 is a Caterpillar original equipment heavy-duty wear-resistant bushing. It is primarily used in the hinged parts of loaders, excavators, and other equipment such as the boom, stick, and cylinder lugs. It provides radial load bearing, friction reduction and wear resistance, and positioning guidance, and is suitable for heavy-duty vibration conditions.

Core Technical Parameters

Item Details
Part Model CAT 172-9861 Bushing

Material High-strength alloy steel, surface hardened (HRC 58-62), inner hole optional molybdenum disulfide coating for enhanced self-lubrication and wear resistance

Key Dimensions Inner diameter approx. 45mm, outer diameter approx. 58mm, length approx. 50mm, wall thickness 6.5mm, chamfer at both ends r≈1.5mm, compatible with 45mm diameter pins

Compatible Models Commonly compatible with 950M/962M loaders, 320GC/323GC excavators, 420F2 loaders, etc., used for boom articulation points, stick cylinder bases, bucket linkages, etc.

Performance Characteristics One-piece molding, high load-bearing capacity, resistant to oil and dust, -40℃ to Stable operation at 120℃, low wear rate when using grease, suitable for high-frequency reciprocating and low-speed rotating conditions in engineering machinery.

Core Functions and Structure

Load Bearing and Friction Reduction: As an intermediate support between the pin and the mounting base, it bears radial loads and reduces relative motion resistance of components through sliding friction, reducing wear between the pin and the machine body and extending component life.

Vibration Buffering: The elasticity of the alloy material absorbs operational impact vibrations, reducing vibration transmission, lowering the risk of component fatigue damage, and improving operational stability.

Positioning and Guiding: Precise inner and outer diameter dimensions ensure the coaxiality of the pin within the mounting base, preventing uneven wear and ensuring the movement accuracy of the hinged parts.

Installation and Maintenance Points

Installation Specifications: Clean the mounting base hole, bushing, and pin surface to remove oil, rust, and impurities; check that the bushing is free from deformation and cracks, and that the mounting base hole dimensional tolerances meet H7 requirements.

Use special tooling for cold pressing installation; do not directly strike to prevent bushing deformation; after installation, check that the end face fits snugly against the mounting base without gaps.

Before installing the pin, apply lithium-based grease to ensure adequate lubrication of the sliding surfaces. After installation, check rotating parts for any jamming or abnormal noise.

Maintenance Recommendations: Every 800-1000 working hours, check the bushings for wear and looseness, and ensure the inner hole coating is intact. Replace the bushing immediately if wear exceeds 0.5mm.

For heavy-load/dusty conditions, add grease every 200 hours; for light-load conditions, add grease every 500 hours to avoid premature wear caused by dry friction.
